69 is almost done and rolling chassis is headed into my garage. What car covers do you guys recommend? I want something that breathes because the garage is dry but can get very slight condensation.

Thoughts?

I have California Car Cover Plushweave covers on two of my cars. Very nice covers. Primarily for indoor storage, with only "slight" outdoor moisture protection (morning dew, etc).
I think their Dust Topper is also for indoor storage only.

If you are looking for a good indoor/outdoor one, I'm selling a CoverCraft Evolution cover. It's a nice cover, only 1 year old in like-new condition. Soft for indoor use, and water repellent for outdoor use.

I am one of those that does not like car covers, although if you pony up the dough you can find some really nice ones.  I just feel that the humidity that is trapped does more damage than having the car uncovered.  I think they have their place but I would never, ever have a cover on a car for extended periods of time.  My car has been in an unheated and humid garage, immobile since 8/2013 and it looks exactly the same now (although I did not do a scientific test  ;D).  Two years ago I had the cover on for two weeks and the interior was moldy.  Again, the better cover will likely not give you the same result, but it shows what lack of breathing can do to a car.

I've said it before and will say it again, keep the car clean and make sure it can drain water where it is supposed to and it will be absolutely fine.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

I added a roof vent and took out a few panes of glass from the windows and installed screens (windows don't open) which seemed to help quite a bit, however seeing as the car has to sit for a year until I get the engine done I just didn't want anything to happen to it. Do you guys have carpets or anything on your garage floors to avoid moisture?

twodko

I live in a year round warm and dry locale so I can keep my car covered in the garage all the time. I also use inexpensive Harbor Freight moving blankets on top of the cover over the hood and trunk.
I'm prolly too paranoid about the dammits that can happen in a garage.  :shruggy:

Yes, painted floor. Also 1/2 is covered with some cheap office carpeting from Home Depot. I left the other side painted concrete in case I need a work area that will get dirty.
Both help with moisture. I've had covers on cars for 20+ years, no problems at all.
Like Tom, I'm also paranoid & put moving blankets on the front & rear, especially in the winter. Not that it's gonna keep the car any warmer, but just for an added layer of protection.

I keep a cover on mine as well and haven't had any issues with mouldy interiors. (I forget the brand now but I'll check)

myk

There shouldn't be an issue with excessive moisture retention as long as the car cover can "breathe."  Now if you wrap a car up with a tarp like "I" did then you will have problems...

Has to breathe really well where Dino and I are, if you live in SoCal you can't imagine the humidity we get in the lower Great Lakes region.  (southeast states know what I mean)

We bought one of these for the Charger fits like a glove and is for indoor use, breathes very well.
I'll go snap a photo and post it shortly.

Here ya go.

D69charger

I just saw in a episode of Detroit Muscle about a place called Covers4cars.com as they were putting one on the bandit trans-am they just finished.  According to the site one of the top of the line indoor/outdoor covers for my 69 charger would be about 300.  seems cheaper than the other link I clicked on above in this thread.

I will be getting one to protect my car once I can afford it

Just got a Classic Industries catalog in the mail & it had one of these beauties in it......  Interesting :scratchchin:

Call or go to California Car Cover web site and talk to them and find the cover that will meet the needs you want. There is no single cover that will do all things the best. There are trade off's with different covers. I have one that is for inside storage with the occasional outside use.  If I would use my cover outside 24/7 all year long it would not protect the car and could hurt the paint.
