Would a suregrip rearend from a 71 Fury wagon fit /work/interchange in a 68-70 B-Body?  Didn't know if since it was a wagon if that changed things.  Guy I know wants $300 for it, has 3.23 gears.

As long as they are both 8 3/4 rear ends. No problem. Be advised that a Sure Grip might look like it still works, but they wear out. When under a load, they don't work at all. Remember it's 40 years old. :Twocents:

When you say rear end do you mean the entire rear end or only the center section?

The '71 Fury is a C-body, the rear end is over 4" wider than a '68-'70 B-body and the spring perch width is 2" different so it won't interchange. The center section (3rd member) will interchange.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Assuming the yoke size of the 3rd in your car is the same as the 71. Otherwise, you will need to modify your driveshaft or change the yoke on the 3rd.

Thanks guys, it is the whole rearend for $300.  I don't need it, just thought $300 seemed like a decent price so I considered buying it just to sell.  Don't know if the just the center section is worth the price.

The whole rear end for $300 is a good deal; a 3.23 SG 3rd member will usually bring that easy and the '71 C-body wagon axles are the longest ones ever made for the 8 3/4" so they're good candidates to shorten/respline for A-body BBP conversions. I recently sold a pickup housing, axles (same width) and 11" brakes for $100 and that was a goo9d deal.

Saw that rearend today,  489 case, solid backing plates, pinion snubber, axles,  looks decent.   I was mistaken though, not sure what gears are in it.  I'm guessing nothing more than 3.23.  He said $300.    Decent deal ???

If it was local and the Suregrip was in decent shape I'd buy it in an instant  :shruggy:
