Say goodbye to Chrysler SRT models

Frankly, I could never understand making the SRT line a separate division to began with.   While it sounded good on paper, bringing all your top of the line performance cars together, it was akin to making all R/Ts back in the day a separate car/division.  The SRT line of cars was sold through your local Dodge/Chrysler dealer anyway, so did it really matter to the customer?  The new Challenger was and always will be a Dodge, while the 300 will always be a Chrysler to the general public and the consumer.

Say goodbye to Chrysler SRT models

The Chrysler 300 SRT will die in 2015

Get one while you can. The Chrysler 300 SRT is an endangered species, due to die in 2015, and there's not going to be a replacement. You see, in the new constellation of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Dodge wears the horsepower pants. Chrysler-branded SRT products are a casualty of the new world order. Even the Viper is going back in to the arms of its mother brand, Dodge—both here and in international markets.
Our source at Chrysler was also keen to tell us the Grand Cherokee SRT will soldier on for a little while. Jeep says it's due for a refresh in Q4 of 2015, and an entirely new model should drop in 2017. The SRT version might survive through the refresh, but it probably won't make it through 2017. And when it comes to SUVs, Dodge is covering its bases with an SRT version of the next Journey, packing AWD and a high-output turbo engine.

The SRT line is not dead….it just moved back home….welcome back!

Shows how much I was paying attention. I thought SRT was a Dodge/Chrysler performance/trim package, not a seperate entity.

Never understood the whole Ram truck thing either. Dodge no longer makes trucks, er, OK.   ::)

Even people who work in the auto industry haven't yet figured out the branding split of Ram from Dodge.     I encounter this nearly every day.

It was a stupid idea to begin with.  ::)

The SRT group has been broken off from dodge, used to be a specialty shop/line but attached to dodge, now it will be a separate entity,  not sure what's gonna happen to viper, sales have dropped off considerably.  SRT will likely be the group that markets the new Hellcat challenger/charger line, as well as the srt8's as a lower priced model...hard to believe that the srt8 would be considered a lower priced vehicle.

Never thought the 300 should have been part of the srt8 line anyway, although it does make it palatable if I got the wife one, but she won't want a big v8 car with bad gas mileage, she wants 30-40mpg and 4 doors.

The Ram thing and the SRT thing were both stupid.  Bringing SRT back to Dodge is a step in the right direction.

SRT is dead, Long Live Dodge! The King is back!

Just one of the dumbest thing ever done! Now if they would kill off the Ram line and bring Plymouth Globe Warming will stop and all will be right in the world again!  :icon_smile_big:
