nice car, though obviously not a survivor as they claim.

who else has a build sheet with "NASCAR" on it in red crayon?

Color looks way, way off for Tor-Red.   But I know pics are hard to trust.   Looks much too "red".

Black decals are strange, but not impossible.

Aero426

They went "all in" on the detail job underneath!

Rattle can black must have been on sale at Tractor Supply?

it looks like the 1/25 scale models I built when I was 12!
:eek2:

oh wait, nevermind...I at least painted the exhaust pipes silver

Redbird

I have seen at least 1 other build sheet with "NASCAR" in Red. I have also seen the "RM23 _ _ _ _" in Black, Red, and Green on build sheets.

Maybe the owner didn't want Tor-Red with white decals, but wanted a late 1970's restoration. Nothing wrong with that.

The all black underside, some burning will go on there when the exhaust gets hot.

The coil overs are a nice touch. I would have gone with "Hijackers" with quarter window decals though.

That's my old Superbird that I fixed up in the 80's. I tried my best to 'restore' it over the 10 years I owned it, and really enjoyed the car. I always wondered what happened to it after I sold it because of a divorce. I knew it was originally Tor-Red, but just loved Rally Red so that's what I had it painted in Jacksonville. The underside never had anything done to it by me, but somebody has used a case of black rattle cans on it.  :brickwall: The rest of the car looks exactly like it did when I owned it. It was my first go at restoring a car and whats a 20 something know about Superbirds and how they go together in the 80's! LOL. When I got it, it was green with white flames on it! The 'Plymouth' decal on the drivers side I screwed up installing, but got it right on the passenger side.  So much of that car was a huge learning experience for me. I even installed a roller cam in it, and i bet it still has it in the original 440!

The ad says it has the original spare and jack - thats a joke, I never had those and could never locate them in the late 80's early 90's. I did find 2 build sheets, and the original dealer invoice, but no fender tag  :'(

If anyone is interested in buying the car, shoot me a PM if you have any questions from back in the day. For better or for worse,  I took that car completely apart and put it all back together myself.

wingcarenvy

I was wondering why it looked so red. Now I know. No offense to the PO but Mershons is a little off their rocker asking 150K for a car painted a non stock color, no fender tag, and a rattle can detail underneath.

FJ5WING

I really like the Ralley red too!

Good choice...I wouldn't do it but sure like it and would love to own it as long as the seller realizes what effect it has on price.
wingless now, but still around.

I agree, they are asking a premium price for that car. Did you notice they did not show any pictures of the trunk? When I had the car apart the trunk floor had some rust holes. I looked everywhere for a RR trunk floor, but everything I found was worse then mine. There weren't any repo floors available at that time so I did the next best thing and fiber-glassed the entire trunk floor and painted it black. Since the car only has about 3000 miles on it since I owned it, I bet it is still that way today. Also the hood has an issue....
