Stick a Hemi in it, and it'd bring 7 figures or close to it.  However, this car needs a lot of help under hood.  It'd be a 15- 20k car if it was a b body.

X2.

Those 71 'Cuda's are gold.

Ghoste

It isn't 2007 anymore.  The listing ended without anyone ponying up the asking price so it isn't 1/4 million worth of gold today.

I was curious what he was offered but e-bay wont let you see that.  Personally, without seeing it in person first I would put it at half that.  Its rare without question but it would have been nice if he had photos inside the trunk and underneath and when someone on e-bay doesn't include that but remembers to name drop GG and warns me not to waste his time with low offers because the car "WILL sell asking price", I tend to not get too excited about it.
But I'm no E-body guy.  When was the last time a Hemi one brought a million?  They haven't traded there recently have they?

JB400

I think the last one I seen was a 340 car that had a Hemi retrofitted into it.  That was about 5 years ago, and I'm pretty certain it hit the million mark.

Here's another one for a little less money, but with better options.  http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/plymouth/cuda/1615840.html

70Sbird

I'm not much of an "E" body fan, but that Curious Yellow car is a Sexy Beast!
If I had Stupid money I would have a closer look at that one...

Looks to be in a lot better shape too.  The four speed one is rarer but I would think that Hemmings one is a much better car.  They're asking 190k and thats a dealer so that makes me think it is a stretch to get 240k for that other one.  Maybe not?
Do you know where you heard of that one hitting a million in 09?  That is strong money for a clone in 09.

Mike DC

Even if it DID have the Hemi . . .  why are the Hemi clones still going for so much?

At the core it's a mass-produced unibody + a crate motor.  I can't see it costing anything like those kinds of numbers to build.

I realize that the convertible option costs a lot.  But how high can "a lot" climb up to, before it gets cheaper to make one out of a hardtop?

And it has been most of a decade since the E-bodies got stupid expensive again.  That is plenty of time to see some more clones get finished and additional repro parts to show up in the catalog.

JB400

It was a televised event back when basic cable still showed actual car shows.  Whether it was a BJ event or RM, escapes my memory.

I can agree with you on some of that Mike.  However, I think if a person used period correct pieces, even if not numbers matching, could still jump the price up there in that territory.

Ghoste

Not RM, that much I know.  Could have been BJ in January as IIRC there were still some last minute crazy sales in 09 just at the start?

F8-4life

Very nice cuda that I'd love to own.
But how is it worth any more then around 50k-60k tops?
Look at that dirty engine bay, & its a 383.
This guy sucks, you know he found it priced reasonably through word of mouth.
Now its worth the price of a house?
Maybe he needs to buy another boat lol

Ghoste

I think they only made something like 40 of them with a 383 four speed though didn't they?

as awesome at this car is !! :drool5:   ( never been keen on convertables )  the price on this car IMO is insane ,    all  mopar muscle cars !!  its gone crazy  :yesnod:
amazing  how hemi  convertible E bodies command the highest prices I think , yet so few were made , not popular at the time  :scratchchin:   seems every body wants one now or make a clone ! wonder ! if Chrysler made  90 thousand hemi ebody convertables  & 40 percent of them survived , the prices today would be a fraction of what they are now , would people / collectors still want them  as much ? no offence ment  to anyone

back up on Ebay , revised price  $189.000

I hate the interior color. I guess this guy did not want to mess with the interior or engine bay.  If I had the money (like my user name says) I would own one.  These are more rare than Daytona's and Superbirds combined.  :Twocents:

Lord Warlock

I don't understand why the e body converts are pulling those type of prices.  I understand the hemi's but not the non hemi's.  Makes me wonder what a friend got for his when he sold it a few years back, had a shaker hood, yellow.  Know he now drives a modded viper and has other cars.

Speaking of Vipers, has anyone ever put a newer Hemi into a Prowler ? That would be too cool.  :Twocents:

Because there is no cooler car on the planet (IMHO) ....and they are hard to come by, of course.

I mean look at that thing!   :drool5:

71's Cuda's are Ma Mopar's holy grail.  :Twocents:

Fine by me as I prefer the 70 Cuda... What is it that makes that particular e body give so many folks a stiffy?  :shruggy:  each to his own I guess.

No the 71's are Ma Mopars final hurrah and they made less of these than the 70. Fish gills, 4 headlights and the grill made it a home run. Argue all you want.

6spd68

Not sure why they didn't continue with that grille style for later years  :scratchchin: :icon_smile_question:

Something about convertibles makes people nuts.  I can think of a dozen convertibles I'd buy before I spent 100k on an E body.  I do like the e body converts, just not crazy about them like some seem to be.  Had a 66 mustang vert, and now have a miata when the urge hits.  Would have gotten a 70 GTO convertible before i bought an ebody vert.  But those also went over 100k a while back.  Made me wish I'd bought the ones I was tempted by in the 80s.

ACUDANUT

I'd rather walk than cram into a "Miata".  Sorry, I'm 6'4 and they look like a death trap to me.

Lord Warlock

I'm 6' 1" and i fit easily into a miata, no cramming necessary, it is a little hard getting out of though.  Its a fun little car to drive around although sitting at stoplights and having SUV exhausts sitting at eye  level is daunting.

I like the Chargers far far far better than any Cuda.  Hmm, I guess thats why Im here.

surmanajaja

I would not pay that kind of money even if I was a millionaire :rotz:  I can still remember when I could have picked a N node 71 convert for 6000usd.. back in 1990 or so...that car is now restored and probably worth 100-150 now but even if it its the most beautiful mopar to me I cant justify paying that kind of money for any car, especially 45 years old one..

^^
Yup, for the ragtop experiance I have many cars in mind I would choose before an e body.

A Cuda Nut, if the 70 was so great, why did they make less of them than the 70? :scratchchin: Now I like the 71, but never did care for the fish gills. I did like the bill boards better than my hockey sticks. (for none E Body folks, it is there stripes)

Far as Charger VS Cuda, I enjoy driving the Charger more. Dam slap stick shifter hits me on the knee.

Ken I really just love them all. When people ask me which one is my favorite, I tell them I love all my kids (cars) the same.  I like 70 'Cuda's very much too..So if you have one, send it my way.
