I think we have a winner

The mag Deluxe Car Kulture just had an op-ed about how some builders have no sense of what works together when pulling off a custom. Though this car is much newer than the focus of this mag, it certainly is a perfect example. :eek2:

It takes LOTS of time and wasted Money to build something like that!  Some people may call it a "hobby" or even "art".... but I'm sure very few people would call it a good use of resources!  :brickwall:

He probly lernt sumthin tho.

The bumpers are probably worth more than the car.

Close but no cigar. The Imperial bumper is opened wider so the license plate will fit. It was a good guess though.

Ghoste

Could have sectioned it to be narrower?

JB400

It'd look better in black.

Could have but that would take a lot of cutting and welding and grinding to make the sides look right and the chrome doesn't look good enough to have been re-plated.  It looks like something I've seen before but I just cant nail it down.  Oldsmobile was what came to mind at first but I searched for pics and couldn't find anything that matched.

It can be done

Oh I didn't mean that it couldn't be done, just that this particular one hasn't been done...

I knew I had seen that grille before and recognized it from a 50's car, it just took me a few minutes to find a picture.
What did we ever do before Google?

A little bit of sheet metal and a lot of bad taste

I'm trying to figure out what has been done to the front windshield/roof area.

I'm thinking maybe he chopped a few inches off the bottom of the windshield & A-pillars and preserved the middle & top of them.  The overall roof looks lowered little, but only in front.

It looks like the Satellite's original front bumper was grafted onto the rear end.

--------------------------------------------------

The whole car is a truly epic fail.

The one upside is that he didn't cut up something valuable.

But then again . . . it was probably done sometime between 1975-1990.  In that era even the most desirable old bodystyles weren't worth a lot.  The choice of a less desirable car was probably just another example of the builder's bad taste.
