You're supposed to fall hopelessly in love BEFORE you buy the car, not AFTER you buy it.

No wonder why this country has such a high divorce rate... :slap:

Where do you young blokes work, that you would have 45K-60K to spend.  :scratchchin:
I can't believe a 30-40 year old would considers himself too old to restore a car.  :brickwall:

The OP did not say he was too old.
He said he was looking to start a family & did not have the TIME to devote to a full bore restoration. For someone who's been there, I can relate.

Yeah, I am done with restoring.  Have done a 64 Continental, 64 Bug, 55 Chevy Truck, and completely built from ground up a 62 Pro Street Nova. Heck, I currently have a 67 GTO that I'm tinkering with too and even that takes lots of my time.

They all took more time and money than I anticipated.  Yes, I loved every bit of it, but when it came time to sell a couple of em, was way upside down.

I just don't have the time anymore and want to buy one done.  I will be able to wrench on it when little things arise, but at least I wont be in a full blow restoration at the same time I am trying to raise a new family.   :2thumbs:

That being said, I really appreciate all this help finding my dream car.  I know a lot about other rides, but must confess... I know little about Mopar's  :-\

What do the pro's think about this Black one I just came across?

Anyone familiar with it?

QuoteReal deal R/T, "J" code, #'s match 426 hemi, orig. dual four's, 4speed, dana 60, 4:10 power lock, ps, pdb, no rust ever.
Driver quality car, runs and drives awesome.
asking $62,900 or best offer !

*EDIT*
Just noticed the listing is over a month old. Probably not worth even thinking about.
Hate when listings stay up so long.

You never know, my self I would give them a call.

My self, I like the 70 the best, not that I don't love them all! Bulges in the fender stand out more, and the scruples in the hood are bigger! I all so like the electric motor better than the vacuum headlight doors! Only thing I don't like on the 70 is the door panels, kind of plain.

Front sheet metal is hard to find, grill can be real hard.

Sounds like your looking for a Charger like mine. It has the wheels you like. It is all original unrestored survivor. No Repaint. All original paint, original 24,000 miles, all #'s match. And only $30,000. Does need some work though. LEON.

P.S. 100% rustfree California car.

The email didn't work but I called and he still has it.  Said to ring him back when it's not so late (whoops).
I really don't know much about the 426 hemi Chargers.  By looking at those pics, can anyone give me some questions I need to ask before calling again?

ACUDANUT

Damn, it's gotta Hemi ?  Too cool.  I love my 70 Charger R/T. I would take the scoops off the door, but then the door would 4 holes showing in it.  :brickwall:

Where are the pic's of this Charger ?

indetrucks

I have a question. For the pros.
I found an RT I really like. It's really only got one thing that bothers me. Its an automatic on the steering column.  I have seen a few on the column, was this common?  It's not an a/c car either but I'm not concerned about that.

Here are the vin, tag, and build sheet.  Can anyone help shed some light as to decoding them?

Ghoste

Homerr

FYI the VIN tag has been painted over when the dash was repainted.  Not a big deal really if you're okay with it.  Many just mask off the tag when painting.  The original 'rosette' rivets look intact.

Here's what a stock one looks like, flat paint and Chrysler logo:

Thanks sooo much!  So looks like the only thing missing is the luggage rack. Looks like a low option car otherwise.  The wheels are a black steel with a small chrome-ish center cap. Looks good but they aren't the cool 500's that I like.

Should the column shift be a deal breaker?  Just seems so grandma like on the column, not very mean appearing. :shruggy:

70 sublime

If the car is priced right you could always round up the parts to put in a console shifter and keep the original parts for the next owner someday

That car is dead sexy, I wouldn't give a damn about the column shift  :Twocents:

ACUDANUT

90 percent of these cars had that.  More room for some road head. lol

Ghoste

It seemed at one time, you didnt see many console automatic cars and now column shift is rarely seen.  I think a lot of have been consoled over the years.

indreams84

The R/T I am getting is a column-shift auto as well.....I am ok with it, considering the rarity of a #s matching R/T (especially a 69')......btw, I saw that black one up for sale in Florida, right? Isn't it like $49,000 or so? Looks nice.

I wouldn't be "thrilled" about a column shift car, but in this day and age where nice Chargers are becoming more difficult to find, I wouldn't let it stop me from buying it.  Like someone else said you can always 'mod it and then restore it later...
