Yeah, thinking the column shift is not such a bad deal breaker.  It's not like I'm goin to the drag strip or hot rod it all over town like we used to when we were 18 years old.  haha

It was at one point in Florida (2 years ago).  So it's probably the same car.
Here's the write up:

QuoteReal triple black  1969 Charger R/T. .
This is a Stunning  x9 Black , V8R red stripe,  R/T 440 4 Barrel Auto. Black vinyl top (V1X)Top and black Interior .
The engine and transmission are the original matching numbers to this car, the body also matches on trunk and radiator support Power steering, Am radio. Tinted glass. Bucket seats. Dual Exhaust with tips. This is a well preserved  always cared for R/T. Always adult owned and maintained. This car just went thru a good freshening up. New Top. New brakes. Looks like you found your car! Looks really nice.

Since you hate the wheels and tires hit me up when you sell them.   :icon_smile_big:

indetrucks

Hate is such a strong word

They are certainly basic, but they are growing on me :)

So now for the big question.  Who to use for shipping from Coast to Coast?  Enclosed of course.
I remember there being a site out there where you put in your request and truckers literally contact you with their offers.

Anyone got any leads or hook ups?

crj1968

A guy I sold a car too used a placed called Horseless Carriage years ago.

When they showed up at my house they were very professional and did a thorough inspection before loading it up.    :Twocents:

The last car I sold, the buyer went through some ebay broker and they just take bids from whoever. That I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Guys showed up around mid night, had a helluva a time with the clutch on the car, trying to get it on the upper rack. At one point he looks at me and says, "you want to drive it up?"

Yeah, I'll try not to put it into the back of that 911...   ::)

Horseless Carriage are good, Higgins Auto Transport are also excellent but very small so harder to get a load unless they are in that area.  Coast to coast is tough because for the most part , the ones who primarily do that are the big places like Reliable and you can generally save a lot of money with a smaller firm or an independent.
Which coast are you trying to get to as final destination?

StoneCold

Heard this name before...no personal experience. I guess some big names use them.

So I noticed a flaw one the front grill.
Take a look at the drivers side grill, there appears to be a 2" x 2" square piece missing.   :shruggy:

Is this piece readily available aftermarket?  How much am I looking at spending for that section?

Ghoste

Intercity aren't bad.  Can be a little frustrating sometimes but many of their drivers at least have experience with old stuff.

Aren't you planning on flying out and having a look at this thing in person?

Yeah, if the price is right and it doesn't need a $3,000 grill.  haha

crj1968

Gotchya. Wish I was where it was, Id be more than happy to check it out for you.    :drool5:

Report back: Car was nice but had issue hooking up through second gear.    :D

indetrucks

Haha      Yeah, I wish I was a bit closer too.

So far enclosed shipping is between $1,600 - $2,200

NOS center grill section $1,200
Used complete grill $1,000 (can maybe use what I need and part the rest on Feebay)

Not a cheap hobby  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Also, if I am reading this thread right (which is questionable) it looks like these photos have been used for a scam ad before:

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,92131.0.html

When I was Charger hunting I fond more scams than real cars.  Sometimes I could do a google image search and find the actual car, contact the actual owner, and ask if they were actually selling it.  I was constantly being told that "no" somebody just found the photos on the net.  When I was speaking to a supposed seller I would ask for a photo of something obscure that was not in the original ad photos.  Either they could send it to me or not.  Just be careful out there.

This car may very well be a legit sale, but in your photos the name on the building of the trans am shop that did it is cut out from the original photos.  I ran across this very thing in my search too (different shop, same idea).

Just make sure before you go flying across the country, paying for an inspector, or certainly sending anyone any money.

Thanks for the link to that thread. I am aware that the car came from that shop.  I have been doing lots of research on it  :coolgleamA:

Good, just wanted to make sure.  You can't be too careful.  Good luck with it!

Everything that was pointed out about the car in that thread has helped me quite a bit to be honest.    :2thumbs:

Good.  The more info the better.  Like I said, when I was Charger hunting it was unbelievable the things I ran across.  It was a real crash course in outright scams.   I fell in love with one 68 and had talked to the guy a bit about it and was close to traveling out of state to see it (it's been a few years and I don't really remember where it was).  At some point I dragged his photos into image finder and found all the same images of the car.  The guy had just cropped the top off to hide a business name.  I called the shop that was in the unchopped photos I found and they said that they had the car, had never heard of the guy, and were selling it for twice as much.  And the car was local, relatively.

Anyway, when I saw the photos you posted were the same ones that were used a year ago it raised a red flag.  Sounds like you are doing your own homework though and I wish you luck.  The car does look good!

Gotta go, can't read all the replies.

That's not an original survivor car by any means.  For starters, when it was restored they forgot to paint the radiator support like so many so called "factory correct" restorations.
