What undercoat to use?

As stated, anyone used a product they like better? I've got an undercoat gun with the hoses to get in places from Eastwood but I'm not going nuts with the stuff and may not even need it.  :shruggy:

Are you trying to go with OEM coating, or something else...?  I used tintable Raptor bedliner.  Worked awesome and was very easy to use.  I didn't spray it on though, rolled and brushed it.  Spraying would have been better... But I didn't have the right gun or a lift.  Link below to my thread.

Thanks I'll check it out.  :2thumbs:

No worries.  I think I spent a total of $115 for the kit.  The local paint guy hooked me up with the pint of base color though.

Your work with that looks really good!  :yesnod:  I wasn't looking for a 2 part system just a "body schutz" kinda tar based undercoat that could be scrubbed/scraped of later if needed. My car has issues, I let my welder overlap some floor foot well patches and in a few areas I need to really protect/seal before letting the car get soaked again. Other areas I just want to coat against road crap scratching through the black painted underside.
I need to show that product to my buddy who is going to coat inside his Gremlin's floorboards, it will be perfect for that! He can use my gun to do a real nice job on that. :2thumbs:

Thanks!  It's a pretty easy to use system.  I went with it because I didn't have the necessary tools to spray the bottom.  Good luck on what ever you use, and post some pics!

I bought the gun for getting in here and there with the hose extensions mostly. Then tried Eastwood Rust Encapsulator on some problem areas and it worked well so I tried the one with a thin 24" hose included. That small hose got inside seams less than 1/8th inch!  :2thumbs:
I picked up 4 cans of Rust-Oleum pro grade undercoat and ordered a can of Rust Encapsulator Undercoat with the 24" hose. I'll shoot R. E. in the seams then top that with R. E. undercoat using the small hose to get into overlap seams and problem areas. I should be able to generally coat open areas with the much cheaper Rust-Oleum.
Funny, I have the gun and may not use and you went another way as you didn't have the gun. You got very impressive results, the car looks super!  :2thumbs:
