For a '69 BB the tube was natural and the handle was black

I thought the tube was in there when they painted it?

It took some digging for me but Chris (not surprisingly) is correct and I (also no surprise) am wrong wrong wrong.  Small blocks and Hemis are painted but the big blocks had the tube added after paint.

It is a 1968 440.  I painted the tube engine color and handle Black.  Can always change it??

Unless you are entering it in oem style judging I can't imagine too many people knocking your car over the dipstick tube anyway.

Shit , mines chrome plated , I think in oe judging it would be way down on the list of all the things incorrect

No, in the oem stuff they spot things that would blow your mind.  Correct markings on fasteners, date coded everything, the list is endless.
