Don't be silly. Nissan doesn't build Corvettes. :nana:

Nissan doesn't build a car worth washing.  I had to improvise

Out of all the Japanese car manufacturers, to me, Nissan is the one manufacturer that makes the least appealing cars.

I dunno, I've always thought the Fairlady-Z was a pretty cool ride.  And we can't forget the GTR.

Instead of self washing I want some of that radar and laser absorbing stealth paint (but looks all nice and glossy).

No, I guess Honda did...

This does not suprise me, as I had heard (in a nanomaterials class at Mizzou) that manifactures were developing it ten years ago.  The trick is how durable the paint will be over the lifetime of the car over heavy usage.  I know that some of the R&D teams were having problems with solar issues (ie. sunlight) degrading the materials, maybe they have now solved the issue.  While it may be hydrophobic (water-hating) and oilphobic (oil-hating), it makes me wander about materials that are neither (like inorganic compounds in soil) coming into contact with the paint.  For example, here in the wonderfully windy state of Kansas, we occationally have large dust storms from loose topsoil in farm fields.  While they may not stick hard to the surface, I have a suspicion that it would still lightly coat the surface enough that you would have to still wash it almost as regularly....

What about winter in the salt belt?

From what i saw on TV about it, it only works on white cars, so it isn't quite ready for prime time yet, or all cars, may become an option on white cars in the future.  I've seen something similar that works on fabrics and leather, such as work gloves or coveralls, the dirt just drips off and doesn't stick to the surface once treated.

They are behind the times - the General Lee had paint that was easily cleaned by running through "the hazzard county car wash" - removed dirt, paint, end even dents.
