Anybody know this car? I'm thinking about checking her out. It's been for sale for a while. I've seen her on e-bay a few times the past year. What would you pay? Are the 69 c/500 hemi's as strong an investment as say a 440 Daytona ? Here is the link I'm sure you've seen her before. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Dodge-Charger-500-Hardtop-2-Door-426-Hemi-/261397452009?forcerrptr=true&item=261397452009&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3cdc8094e9&nma=true&si=WOJlZfDDonaVbmkpw7EWBgK9EEQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Thanks,

this is part of the ebay ad. perhaps it will jog someone's memory

The car came from Van Ness Dodge, San Francisco,California, purchased by a rich land developer Newhall Scott where his wife sold it in 1992 to Otis Chandler,Vintage Museum, Oxnard California, then 1995 a car collector owned it Ken Funk, Ca then I purchased it around 2000. The car still has its original ownership title and License plate  876 BDA on the car, with Van Ness Dodge dealer frame. I was the first to register the car. I have all correspondents with the above people.

Decent car,  not many made. Money in the bank if well maintained.

Not sure what his reserve is, but my opinion is that if you were to get in to a Daytona or a 500 for over $110 there is not much of a way to view it as an investment. Personally I think the values on these cars has already peaked, and int the future will be headed south.

Maybe.   I know of two Hemi C500's that went in excess of 200K this year.   Both very nice but not perfect.

Depends on the car, Hemi helps.    This one being discussed seems to need some TLC first before hitting those numbers.

I have to agree with this^. I'm looking for a 4spd. Charger 500, I prefer a Hemi but would be happy with a 440 also. Two years ago I saw a beautiful red Hemi 500 at Carlisle. The seller wanted $110,000. The car and the restoration seemed to be very well documented (broadcast sheet and fender tag present). The car looked perfect but it was still for sale on Sunday. I like the car from New Jersey and the color. Would it be as easy to sell as the red car if you wanted out? I don't think so. I think the days of muscle car values continuing to rise are over. The baby boomers are getting older and will be getting out of the hobby, the next generation will not have the same interest in these cars and they won't have the disposable income to buy them. When I find and buy my Charger 500 I will be doing so knowing that I won't be able to sell it for what I paid. That will be o.k. because I will be driving and enjoying it. The high bid on the above link seemed fair to me, the cars documented history is a nice bonus, but I can't see paying any more.

Hi Brian and Bill,

There were 25 440 500's and 26 426 500's made.
How many survived?
Maybe half???
That limits your field somewhat.

I had a 69 Sixpack-bee but was never happy with it cos I wanted a manaul one!
It was Butterscotch too, so even more of an issue methinks.

Then I found something better, YEP a 4-speed 500!!! :2thumbs:
Now I'm thinking I don't want another green Charger LoL. :eek2:
All my Chargers have been F8, how did that happen?

Anyways if you like green F8, my car might be up for grabs soon?
Whats it worth, numbers matching but needs a resto??? :scratchchin:

Who knows, maybe $30k maybe more???
If I totally restore the Old-Girl, then I think $75K

Bye for now 500Jon
IF A JOB's WORTH DOING, ITS WORTH DOING WELL, RIP DAD.
4-SPEED, 1969 Charger-500 is the most Coolio car in the World!

Seen some better photos couple years ago, been for sale off and on a while.

Maybe the real question is to pick on color of T3 WIW.  I would like to think some in the market would like a less fully OE trailer queen never driven car.  This when I saw the better photos looked quite nice for a nice old original car with repaint (it appears) which I personally would rather have.  The price and color are why it remains for sale in my perspective, FWIW.

So what is the spread from T3, gold to black or sliver or more desirable color.   I bet a fairly wide spread to the color you want.  Personally I could see maybe as much as 50k to the right buyer finding his right color (on correct hemi 500).   You like T3..... maybe it is for you.

ps - general consensus is production numbers on 500s are quite a bit more btw than post above.

Christ, if I hadn't already bought mine and was still looking, I'd probably fly down and look at that thing.
