The goal is to start in the pole position, not stop there.  :o

Terry Nichels, Ray's son, circa 1969...

Ran out of track...   :shruggy:
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

That is August 1969 at the Indy Fairgrounds mile.     Pretty hard lick.   Looks worse from this angle.  I believe the car is outside the track.

Terry's car ran at least 1969 through 1972 in USAC.     Verlin Eaker drove it for Terry as a 500 and as a Daytona in 1971.   They would switch it back and forth depending on the track.   Decent car, wrecked and repaired several times.    It will not make the roll call today.    Sold and probably raced to oblivion.

This is 1970 at Syracuse.   It was a 100 miler that got a red flag and did not restart because of a serious multi car wreck.

Better days.  1970 at Kaukauna Wisconsin.

1971 as a Daytona with Verlin Eaker driving.

Buddy Baker's record setting #88 in the background, now in Don White's colors.

Both of these cars would compete as both a Daytona and a Charger 500.   Conversion was pretty quick and simple.

The supper club sponsor on the #99 was owned by the soon to be infamous Chris Vallo.    He was also the sponsor on the quarters on the top photo in 1969.

1972 as a conventional Charger.

USAC would let you get away with running the aero car A-post mouldings.

awesome, and thanks. nothing like having a living encyclopedia on speed dial.

vallo's name is what first (ok, second) caught my eye, but i'd never seen a c500 with that number.

another oddity is the stripe having a touch of '68 style.
