This thing was a big pile of crap.  It was at a body shop and was there for a (minor)restoration.  It is an orginal R/T 440 car, auto, power brakes and I think that was about it.  Here is a list of what it needs console (whole thing, top and all), drip moldings, front and rear window moldings, tail panel molding, rear quarter work, rear valance work, dash pad, dash inserts, complete repaint.  Someone painted the dash the color of the car and never covered the vin plate so you can barely see the number.  Car looks to be painted a prowler purple with about 50 coats on it, car waves to you as you walk up to it.  It looks solid but does have some rust in the inner wheel wells and someone along the line replaced the lower rear quarters then bondoed over the corner caps.  Also someone replaced the trunk floor with a flat piece of metal.  Thats not all with all this wrong with it and missing parts, anyone want to guess what this guy paid for the car?  I will post the correct amount after a few have guessed.

Sounds a lot like the POS '68 non R/T I paid $5,500 for three years ago. Yea, probably something like $8-$10k or so I'm guessing.

Well I will tell you first that you should be sitting down before you hear this...... I will give you a second.......

$29,000.00

No joke either, this guy flew out to California and looked at it and paid for it and had it shipped it back here.  I am not sure what kind of an idiot he is but I would say he is some sort of one.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

Ouch !

You sure he didn't buy it in Lake Villa ?  :D
Reading this I was sure it wouldn't have been much more than previously estimated by bull and husk, boy was I wrong !

The description sounds like most chargers, in fair condition even  :icon_smile_big:  but 29k ??? He's not some sort of idiot, he rules them all !
I should feel sorry for the guy but geez get informed first ya rich moron. Prices are really getting out of hand lately, I still feel that 20=30k for a clean charger is not that bad, altough i don't have it around....just think of some other classic cars or bikes and we got it pretty good (daytonas and other rarities not included)
I never had to beat a fender out of a sheet of metal for one and if I ever have to, it's still easier than making one for an old jag or something but it's the rustheaps that keep going up and not a little it seems.

jwilk, any way to find out who the seller was, looks like we have one for the list.

29k....I need a drink now...

jwilk01

Not real sure, but he said that the guy sells all kinds of cars.  He is out of California, I will see if I can get more info for you.  Yes Lake Villa came to mind when I saw the car and the price he paid.

Unbelievable

Dang. :o I wonder if he wants another one. I'd let mine go for $19,999. ;) It's got to be a Hemi car for that price, or the guy is a fool.

That would be the latter then, it's an original 440 powered R/T, not the cheapest of beasts but without 'something' special going for it, nowhere near it's payed price.
In case the new owner reads this, next time people ask about the price, tell them it was Catherine Bach's personal ride, that should shut up most.

The guy like challengers I would let one go for 10,000 :icon_smile_big:

Well then I can't explain it. Maybe the buyer has been spending too much time watching Barrett-Jackson.

I wonder if it was the purple one on Ebay awhile back.

Did you get any pictures??

Just found out that the Dash is out of an R/T but the car is not an R/T, vin number indicates it as a 6 cylinder.  Now I know the 6 cylinders were pretty rare in 68, but still not that desirable.  How many 6 cylinders were there in 68 anyone know?

It would be cool but not worth it (to me at least) to pump that much into a /6 car, Charger or not.
