Starter trying to start engine turn and turn but no starting at all.  Not sure if carburetor is getting fuel.  Novice need lots of help.  Checked section just not sure.
Another added after posting was is the MSD box.

you basically have 2 systems. electricity and fuel. pull a plug and hook up to the spark plug wire and rest against block to check for fire while cranking the engine, or just hook up a timing light and watch for flashing light. then check the points to see if they have a spark. if you have fire, shoot ether (starting fluid, carb cleaner etc..) into the carb and try to start it up. if it fires with ether, you aren't getting fuel.

There are plenty of people here that are willing to help but more info is needed. You need to make it easier for people to help.
Engine? Carburetor type? Has the car sat for a long time? Is anything new or it it all "seasoned" original equipment?

Sgtmajor

It is a 1974 Dodge charger SE with a 400 cubic engine.  Has sat for a while.  Most of the engine looks original.  Started for a bit but then stopped.  When trying to start the engine try to turn over but nothing happen tried flooding engine but no gas is getting to the carb. Got about a quarter tank of gas.  Due to work and weather not got much time to work on it.  Waiting for time off and try the spark trick, but just do not seam to be getting gas.  Trying to figure out how to check and see if gas is getting to the carb.

Hey just undo the fuel line, put a hose to a plastic jug and crank it over.  Look for fuel./ Get any old spark plug, pull one plug wire off and stick it on the end then hold to any ground while someone cranks, look for spark.   :2thumbs: If it sat you my have nether!
A bunch of cranking is good for a motor that's not run anyway, it cycles the oil.

Top, pull the air cleaner and open the throttle (Engine not Running) by hand and look down the carb. You should see gas shoot out if the accelerator pump in the carb is working. They do love to dry rot and not work.

If you see no gas, try pouring a 3rd of a cup of gas down the carb and give her a crank. If it starts and runs then it is a bad accelerator pump in the carb.If it starts to runs and sputters and dies it is a bad fuel pump or fuel filter. If it just cranks, then you are not getting fire to the plugs.

Reason I called him Top? That is what you call a Sgtmajor when in the military.

I have had my share of POS cars here. Even the nicer ones I have sit awhile and are hard to start sometimes.
I have the following things close by for diagnosis:
Starting fluid/Ether
40" length of 14g wire with alligator clips on each end.
Small electric fuel pumps, gas cans, rubber hose and clamps
Old spark plugs, ECMs, Ballast resistors, Voltage regulators, distributors, coils, etc.
Lucky that this is a simple system. The old style engines need 4 things: Fuel, air, spark and compression. You can artificially feed fuel to the engine by way of the Ether or gasoline in a cup. The spark can be artificially fed by running a wire from the POS side of the battery to the POS side of the coil.
