Damn... if my dart had sold yesterday like it was supposed to I'd have enough money... I'm trying to scramble to get the money together....

1970 Dodge Charger 500
Originally a 383 4 barrel car, with 1967 383 4 barrel. 727 auto. Runs strong. Suregrip
Solid frame rails, floors and trunk.
Clean black interior, bucket seats with rare "buddy seat" option. Nice carpet and new original floor matts.
Car was last painted hemi orange in 1983; from 10 feet it looks great, get up close and you can tell that it's 30 year old paint. Still very presentable, shines, and draws a crowd wherever you go. Original colour is GoMango.
Bumpers are straight and solid.
01 decals can easily be removed.
All trim and bright work is in very good condition. All glass is good too. Grill and headlight doors are perfect.
Has the Dixie horn.
Brand new 17" torque thrusts with Yokohama rubber.
Things it needs: gas gauge not working, tictoctach not working, headlight motor works but needs a relay. All minor repairs but I don't have the time to do it.
This car can be driven and enjoyed as it is, it shows very well. Or a very easy restoration to make perfect.

$24,900

AH WTF?!

Just got off the phone with my bank! They are with holding my $17,000 currently because there was an "error" somewhere in their system and they can't confirm the money is mine or some shit.

"But don't worry Mr. Giesbrecht, we'll make sure the problem is fixed by April 22nd!"

Id say don't worry I will find a new bank after you find out my money is MINE!!!
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

Ok I called back and demanded a manager and really blew my stack. They released my $17,000. Now I just need to either sell my Dart tomorrow morning or find $7,000.

Every other second gen in this country is either a total project car for $15,000 or $30,000 "restored".  :rotz:

QuoteThe car drives straight, stops straight (discs on the front). Has good power and shifts firm. A little late to shift into 3rd and have to manually shift down to pass; could be the shift kit or a simple kickdown cable adjustment. Posi locks up tight and the car has no problem laying down an even pair of black stripes on the road.

Interior is really nice, needs door armrests, dash pad is cracked but I have a perfect replacement that I'll include. Original stereo has been replaced with an old pioneer in the 80's. Trunk pan was professionally replaced in 2010 (receipt for approx $4000) floors and frame rails are original and solid.

The rear quarters were replaced in the late '70s, it takes a trained eye to notice but to make the car perfect they should be replaced. Same with the rear valance.

It depends what you want to do with the car, it looks great the way it is and you could enjoy it without doing a thing. Draws a crowd everywhere.

Or freshen it with new paint. Or go to town and make a trailer queen out of it.

Yeah, they are pretty pricey up here. There might be a couple big block Rallyes getting listed soon, but they'll be pricey too ;)

You're just in the middle of everywhere aren't you?  :nana:

Yeah seems pretty weird for the hood pins to be that far back but for a '70 Charger that I could actually afford I am not going to complain to loudly about little hood pins.

As for the seat I'm still awaiting a reply.

I will offer to help you out

If you can scrape up enough cash to pay for it and put some antique car insurance on it
I will drive it to my place and it can sit here for the next 6 months while you round up the rest of the money to transport it home
(I might have to start it up once a week or so and move it around so it does not kill the grass   ;) )

I'd feel better about it for you if that was priced under $20K.   :Twocents:

For the $$$ wasted on 01 decals he could have fixed gas guage,  tach, or headlight relay  ::)

Anyway... good luck

Ok so I'm a little worried about this on the '70:

"A little late to shift into 3rd and have to manually shift down to pass"

The manually shift down to pass sounds just like a kick down linkage problem. But the long while to shift to 3rd... worried that might be a transmission problem?  :shruggy:

yea..I bet the trans is on it's way out....if kick down was not hooked up...it would be in 3rd real fast....

Drache

Quotethe 2-3 shift is firm without slip, it just happens at a higher rpm than you would normally expect under "gentle" driving conditions. If you put the pedal to the floor from a standstill it will go through all shifts perfectly. If you are driving the car easy it just holds second longer than you'd expect.

Sounds almost like the shift kit in my dart except mine does the exact same from 1st to 2nd.  :shruggy:

I did try to haggle, down to $20k. But if you think you can find a 100% 2nd gen for under $20k then I'd like to know where  :2thumbs:

Well good news is I have two guys from Abbotsford both wanting to come Friday to take the Dart home. Hopefully at least one is serious.

Bad news is the guy said he really couldn't sell the Charger for $20,000  :rotz:

Ah well, just has to wait until next weekend  :icon_smile_big:

Anyone ever get rid of their column shift and do a floor shift?

The '70 Charger is a column shift sadly so I was thinking, take out the "buddy seat" between the buckets and get a Hurst V-Matic

Yes - I converted a column to a slap stick.  It was a 74.   Just got ALL the parts out of a junk yard...  Swapped the steering column, too.
You could never tell.  Oh, also put a 150 speedo in and an AM-FM.
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

6spd68

heh, I was actually down the road from that car yesterday...  If You did buy it and take the seats out, I'd snag them off ya...

Exactly.

You (or a friend here) need to see this car in person and drive it. There's lots to like and I also see lots NOT to like.   Looks good on the surface, but my gut tells me there is some tarted up stuff.

I realize you don't get the world for that price.    Car may be OK too.  But I wouldn't be comfortable buying it by remote control.
