Problem with transmission?

Car I am looking at, owner says the car takes a long time to switch between 2nd and 3rd. What could be the cause?

Also said the car won't automatically downshift when passing. This could be the kickdown linkage. Or could it be something else?

  The trans no shift for a while needs to RUN THROUGH some TRANS  MEDIC  in blue can. Will clean it out. Will shift again.  If no kickdown rod /install a factory rod. I have them.  If rod is on adjust to be just at throttle rod that is in the slide end piece.    AZerrrrrrr  David

Stock carb or aftermarket? Will the trans upshift right away if the throttle is lifted?

-The carb is an aftermarket Holley.

- the 2-3 shift is firm without slip, it just happens at a higher rpm than you would normally expect under "gentle" driving conditions. If you put the pedal to the floor from a standstill it will go through all shifts perfectly. If you are driving the car easy it just holds second longer than you'd expect.

Sounds almost like the shift kit in my dart except mine does the exact same from 1st to second.

Does the Holley carb have the correct Mopar throttle lever extension? (Holley 20-7)

Without it the TP linkage won't work correctly.
