69 Headlight Door Actuator Bars...correct finish?

Hello! I'm doing a little wintertime resto-work behind my front grille, and I have a question regarding Headlight Door Actuator Bars. I own a copy of Paul Herd's physically pretty, but practically useless book "Charger, Road Runner & Super Bee Restoration Guide", and on page 122, he describes the finish of the actuator and Headlight Door Actuator Bars as: "...can be duplicated by painting it with a cast-metal paint designed to simulate the look of machined parts."

What the hell does that mean?

Can somebody refer me to an Eastwood product that "simulates the look of machined parts"?

Thanks a million fellas.

I used a wire wheel brush on mine and left them as is. I think some have sprayed a clear coat on them.
