how to tell cast from steel 440 crank...

When at the swap meet. How can you tell if a 440 crank is cast or steel? Numbers? shapes? Anything? thanks

Cast crank has a bulkier damper labeled cast crank only. If the damper is with it. Cast cranks look cleaner in the unmachined areas.

If you're trying to ID a bare crank, the parting line on the casting/forging is how to ID them.
