I had to keep from chuckling when my boss was explaining something to me one day and he said "now, i dont know if your hip to that" but blah blah blah....

and the other one i get all the time from the baby boomers is "jive".  i hear that at least once a week.  "now do those numbers jive or not" blah blah blah....

and i guess everything was a "gas" back in the late 70's.  i dont remember the 70's because i was just a shot in the sheets.  (until 1975 :icon_smile_big:))

That's jibe not jive.  Look it up.

Example of same saying used by a non-bonehead:

We will stop saying "old school" when you stop saying "bonehead" ;D

and you don't have to be a some wasted punk kid to use the word "dude"  I'm 36 and still find myself using it from time to time.  my 80's habits die hard.

FORGET IT.. Old school is here to stay. A few of us were just hanging around in a buddy's shop today talking about wheels when we all agreed that these 18 and 20 wheels look like shit. OLD SCHOOL is the only way to go.................... :nutkick:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I was at work one day and one of my associates said I was "Pimp".  Pissed me off!  Evidently he was complimenting me. :icon_smile_angry:

Now I can dig it if someone wants to complement my on my threads, I can hang!  :apimp:

But be cool with the words and stay hip with the jive talk. O0

for Xmas this year i got a Tshirt that says "old school" with a picture of a bigwheel..  I love it!
I have no problem with the saying, only when idiots use it improperly. as i understand it "old school " is a term meant to be equal to "traditional"  for example an "old school" hot rod would be a 32 roadster with a flathead and no fancy schiznet. i guesss you would say  that something like the yellow coupe in "american grifiti" would be old school.  "old school" would deffinately be non computerized, non CD player  ect....classic or traditional interchange.

NOW The phrase i HATE is "off tha hook" !!!!!!!  what the fawk! to me that phrase only applys to fishing or towing a car on a wrecker.. in either case its a bad thing!!

Brock Samson

means the phone was off the hook... i belive it means conventional logic dosen't apply..  :icon_smile_wink:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=off+the+hook&r=f

chrisII

whens the last time anyone used a phone with a "hook" phones with a hook would be old school then right? still overly used and anoying
