Odd question:
I went to see a really nice 72 rallye with a 440 magnum today. The only real doubt I have about the deal is me!
I need to use hand controls to drive nowadays as my legs are great anymore thanks to an illness.
Do you think the 440 is to powerful and unruly to make driving to tricky with hand controls?

obviously I couldn't try the car myself but it was great in every way and I'm a sucker for mat black power bulges and a big engine

does anyone have experience of the disabled and muscle cars?

Many years ago, my girlfriend's uncle drove a 71 Charger.

He was in a chair and used hand controls.

I don't remember what engine was in the car,

I was too concerned with the girlfriend's engine revving at the time.

I do remember he didn't baby that car.  :drive:

And I didn't baby her, either. ;)

I don't know enough about car hand controls, but from my quick look on the web it looks like something that could be managed with experience and the right set up.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

My bro has been in a chair for 25 years.  Had a caddy once with a twist style control.  It sat over the brake and had a handle that you twisted to accelerate (
tied to the throttle cable) and pushed it toward the floorboard to push the brake pedal to stop.  Worked well for him and he did lots of burnouts with only one hand :)

I'd say power brakes with at least good front discs are a must.  Takes a lot of arm strength to push the handle down.

Good thing about his set up is it could still be driven by others if need be using regular controls, and wasn't very expensive.
