I watched the video a few times, then did a search of the incident to gain as much insight as I reasonably could, and according to several news sources the guy in the Ford was arrested by the police, and the woman was not. Apparently the police didn't feel that she did anything wrong.

Dislike the woman all you want for the sound of her voice, the fact that she videoed what took place, and even laughed at his losing control of his vehicle, but it's not like this took place on a freeway or open rural highway.

Based on what I gathered it was a state road, the surface was wet, the speed limit was 55 mph, (she was doing right around 59 mph and overtaking vehicles that were in the right lane). And at least one source stated she told them that she was planning to make a left turn down the road a half mile or so. If that was true, then she was in the correct lane to be able to pull over into the left turn lane, (there were left and right turn lanes on this street).

I'm all for pulling to the right for someone that wants to drive faster than I'm traveling, but everything must be taken into consideration. One thing is for sure, getting aggressive by riding up on someone's tail isn't the way to get someone to move over for you especially if the driver is within the law and driving safely.

Based on what I saw on the video and read from the news clips this guy was driving like a butthead and paid for it. Hopefully he learned something from the experience.
And I'll say it again, thankfully no innocent bystanders or drivers were injured by his actions.

I just checked many news reports online.

First, you are wrong sublime/sixpack. The lady was going 48 mph in the left lane. Watch the video again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XqZoaWKv2k  (See 36 second mark)

If the speed limit was 55mph as you say - then she was impeding.

Most states have laws on the books about impeding traffic that state you cannot impede traffic and must pull over to the right to allow faster traffic to pass on multi lane roads...such as this:

It is unlawful for any person or persons willfully to obstruct the free, convenient, and normal use of any public street, highway, or road by impeding, hindering, stifling, retarding, or restraining traffic or passage thereon, by standing or approaching motor vehicles thereon, or by endangering the safe movement of vehicles or pedestrians traveling thereon; and any person or persons who violate the provisions of this subsection, shall be cited a violation.

In my view, she was clearly choosing NOT to pass those two trucks just to piss off the guy in the truck.

With regard to upcoming LEFT TURN as you said...

Once again, the video shows her dash, and the speed she was doing, there was NO LEFT TURN SIGNAL on.

In another report I read she mentions the guy in the truck was following her for at least 3 minutes prior to deciding to film the event.   That could mean she had plenty of time to move over and let him pass.   Why start a video unless she wanted to show how much she could PISS HIM OFF?   Just saying.........

She continued to drive in the left lane during the entire filming of the incidentmodel. So modelwhere exactly was this left turn she so desperately needed to make that she couldn't? Just let the guy pass!  She shouldn't have even been in the left lane until she was closer to that turn based on the amount of time she spent in the left lane per the video.

In even another report.. says said she was a half mile from her turn.  A half mile at that speed is less than a minute away. She was filming for 1:44 seconds. At the speed she was going, she covered a hell of a lot more distance than 1/2 mile.  It seem she provoked him for at least two miles.

If he was such a danger, why not call 911 and let the police handle it. She could have simply moved over and got his license plate number.

I'm fully aware of that fact but I don't live in fear of anyone or any situation.  Only cowards choose their battles.  The guy in the truck was a coward.  He saw that it was a Woman when he passed her, saw that she was videoing him and he decided to act like a tough guy with her.  He should have laughed when he saw it was a Woman and drove on by.

I'm the exact opposite.  If a Woman "cuts me off" I don't care in the least.  If a guy does it.......different story!  Right, wrong or indifferent, that's just the way I'm wired.  :2thumbs:

Didn't you get all over me about speeking of "hypotheticals" ....  :shruggy:

He was 100% right with everything he said.  Follow your own advice and watch the video.  The numbers on the dial are spaced in 20 MPH increments.  The needle was just under (and slightly covering) the 60 MPH indicator mark.

I'll admit I was wrong....she was doing 58 MPH.  ECS is correct on her speed in the video.  Good catch.  :scope:

Unlike you, I won't say that my opinion should be taken or viewed as absolute FACT.  That's simply my opinion about the way he acted.  I might be completely wrong with my assessment but I still think he acted like a coward.

You took the Cowards side from the very beginning and blamed the Woman for the ordeal.  It's easy to see which side of the equation you fall on.  :2thumbs:

Really?  I took the woman's side?  Go back to my first post.  I explained how I changed my mind later, but at very first post, I was taking nobody's side.  Later I also said they were both idiots- twice!  Please go through the thread folks, someone is spinning my words.

They might both be guilty of something.  But it's disturbing how readily the DC.com jury wants to equate those two offenses.

Impeding by 5-10mph in that situation was a mild nuisance at worst.
He recklessly threatened life and limb in retaliation.

Let's switch to cats and dogs driving.   :nana: I seem to remember a bbc bit on dogs driving in New Zealand a little over a year ago.
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

On what we agree.......the guy was a coward.......you are right.....he should have just let it go.

I don't live in fear either. :2thumbs:

Where we disagree.....I grew up and learned to avoid situations that are unwinnable and put others at risk. I'm smart enough to just let others stupidity go.......

Have a nice day :2thumbs:

As for dogs driving.....if I'm not mistaken.....Tuffs driving cat is being chased by a driving dog. :2thumbs:

I also don't remember studying my "right to drive in the passing lane"(wtf?) in my civics class.   However, I do remember being raised with etiquette.   Sorry, about your parents not doing their job.   Now get your rude ass over.

I'll drive in any lane I want as long as I'm doing the speed limit.  If someone wants to break the law, they can go around me and do as they please.  If they don't like that I didn't move as they expected they can follow me to where ever I am going, get out of the car and I'll beat their head off their shoulders.  :2thumbs:

Hey all---I guess my posts are provocative but my intent is to bring to light what causes the rage that escalates to sometimes the worst.

I'm one of those that will pull over and let the problem pass.  But I also am one that will get great satisfaction passing the wreck (that is coming)

I just hope no bystanders get hurt.

Steve P.

Well, damned if this didn't happen close to me.... I travel this road a few times per month. I will be 2 times this week alone going to the Vets. hospital. So I will look for the pole downed by the truck.. I had thought it looked familiar when they went over the railroad tracks and then you could see them beyond where he crashed.

So I found the story with the info. that most speculated on. There are 2 video's. The first is what you have seen. The second is her interview.

http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/25097511/2014/03/28/the-full-story-behind-that-instant-karma-viral-video?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=9993982#.UziYAAWtEio.facebook

I can tell you that that after the sun has been on the asphalt for hours and then we get out afternoon showers it is like driving on ice. Both drivers are locals and they obviously both know how slippery the roads are during and after the rain..
