Ok... so the car will be out of the paint shop next month and im looking at new wheels.

Right now I am looking at weld rts s76b's they make the 18x9.5 with a 4.75in backspace for the rear and i'm thinking 18x8 out front 4in backapsace.. will this work.

I was looking for the wheel offset calc but it appears to be gone......

Any help would be much appreciated.

RKCHARGER

Update, talked to a local tire shop who called weld racing. Weld is for a 70 charger recommending 18x10 with a 5.7bs in back and 18x8 with a 4.7bs in front?
leads me to 2 questions.

1st. Is anyone running this type of setup, something close or can any offer any advice on this?

2nd. Is there difference in the suspension setup for a 70 Charger vs 68/69? seems to me at 18x10 most everyone is running a 5bs...... maybe i'm off on this.

just need a little help before I make a 4k mistake.

I just got my boze frictions delivered. I ordered 18X8 in the front with a 4.5 backspace 0 offset and 19X10 in the back with a 5.5 backspace 0 offset. On the vexer calculator that has disappeared for some reason, this fits pretty good. I know there are others out here who also have the same thing. It's also what Zac at boze wheels recommended as he said he's built a few rims for 69 chargers before. Unfortunately I havent had time to get them on the car yet. Just got them before I went back to work. ( I work away for 3 weeks at a time. ) I'm pretty positive they're gonna fit. If not it's a 4k mistake too.

Well After looking and measuring these wheels should be a go, also discont tire is guaranteeing fitment because it is Weld's recommencement on measurement. If they don't fit they will take them back no questions asked. So ordered and should be here in a month. how do you think they will look.

I like it, to me it's like a more modern take on the classic, magnum 500s on it now.

When I installed a disc kit on the back, the rotors (thicker than drums) changed my back spacing. Something to consider if you want to upgrade to disc brakes in the future.

Good luck!

my boze wheels made it on my car without any rubber and the fit perfect. no pic but theres a ton of room. Zac from boze wheels steered me right. Rkcharger, I think youre gonna be good.

I found a great link to explain bs and offset, its pretty easy after reading this. Just go out and measure the backspace back and the rest measure up front to the lip to see fitment.

RKCHARGER

Thanks for the help fellas, I took the easy way out. I gave all the specs (disc brake kits, backspacing, etc.) to my guy at discount tire and weld. They ordered everthing up and are guaranteeing the fitment. If not they will take them back...

The thread I started below has a lot of examples.  It all comes down to diameter, width, backspacing, and offset.  If you're running the same numbers as others you are pretty much rest assured to be good.  Brand and style doesn't really matter in most cases, as long as they provide you with accurate numbers.

I don't know if you didn't see the thread when you started this one or just decided to start one for your concern but please take a look at it if you have more questions.  And, even more, post some pics and your numbers once you get them all mounted up!  We all want to see them!

BLUERT,

I did see that one and also scavenged every post on it lol, I couldn't find anyone running a 5.7bs in the rear so I possted a new thread to get a quick answer lol.
Wheels will be here in 4 weeks and hopefully on before Mopars in the park here in MN. I will surely post pictures as soon as i have them!

If you're going to be at Mopar's at the Park you need to show me in person!  I'll be there.  PM me with contact info if you want to catch up!

As for back spacing, you're right.  Not many have put up the backspacing and I didn't either.  I believe mine was 5.25 with a .5 offset.  I'm sure I can find the info if you'd like.

Great news!  I got in contact with the guy at VEXER and he put the wheel and tire sized tool back up!  It allows you to choose your wheel diameter and width, as well as backspace and offset, and your tires.  It's great and I'm very grateful to him for putting it back online!    :2thumbs: :woohoo:

Got the rubber on the wheels. They're awesome. I stressed for months about theses rimw. Cars at my buddys place, he's my mechanic. Few more things to do and then when I get the car home I'll put the wheels on.

I can't wait to see them mounted.  I am loving those wheels!  Did you go with the same depth on front and rear?

Well, the front rims are 8" with a 4.5" backspace. So theres 3.5" of lip in the front. The backs are 10" with a 5.5" backspace and so theres a 4.5" lip. Way better than my old ones where there was no lip in the front and 3" in the back. Those rims didn't fit for shit. Even with spacers the back wheels rubbed the springs.

What about you RKcharger? Get your wheels and rubber yet?

So is the depth of the dish simply a matter of backspacing?  From their "custom wheel depth" I thought maybe they thickened or thinned the rear to give you a dish depth option irrespective of backspacing.  Sounds odd now that I type it.  But if it were otherwise I would think they would just say choose your backspacing, not choose the depth of the dish.  Hmm.

Yep. You can choose whatever backspace you want for the look you want. These rims have "0" offset. If I bought them with a  3" backspace, allowing for 7" of lip then the off set would be stupid and they'd probably stick out of the fender 2". I'm not exactly sure how it works but something like that.

http://vexer.com/automotive-tools/wheelguide

Check out this link that blue68 keeps putting up, it's an awesome help. You'll see that as you move the offset around on your wheel that the backspace moves to correct and the rim moves in and out on your car.

RKCHARGER

Update:  The Welds should arrive to me middle of may. Ill post pics asap and get them on the car and take more pics asap.

White, wheels on the car yet?  Mine will be here this week.

69white hat

I got em in the garage. I've been at work for 3 weeks. I work a 3 and 2 schedule. Home just in time for the may long weekend. I'm dropping my cummins at my buddys place for some work and I'll jump iin my charger and drive her home. The first thing will be to get the wheels on. Then I hope to put a few thousand miles on before I get back to work on the 29.  :coolgleamA:

That looks great!! Those wheels really pop with the plum purple!  Beautiful 70 RK!!!  I'll have to snap a few more pics of my car when I'm home again. They decided to widen and pave the road to the lake I live at. Now the only way in is 6 KM of absolute terrible road. They ripped it up the Friday of the may long weekend and haven't touched it since. Waiting on permits for gravel.  :flame: :flame:
