4 speed console, side screw confusion

Im working on my 4 speed console today and Im confused on the hump side carpet, specifically not sure if I should glue it on the hump now, or half way so I have access to the screw that holds the front of the console to the bracket on the trans tunnel under the dash . Or, does the screw simply pass through the carpet? I dont remember having to peel back the carpet to access this screw when I took it apart as an automatic. Any help would be great. Thanks guys

I'm not sure if the screws went through the carpet or not but I wouldn't do so now.  Leave the console carpet as the last thing to do in the interior.  All you'll have to do is apply some contact cement on both parts, stick them on and go for a drive!
