Can etching primer be sprayed over bodywork, if not, what is the best primer to use with bare metal that has already had bodywork done?

yes you can spray it over bodywork but its not recommended. Its supposed to go over bare metal. I would just spray it over bare metal spots. Now you can spray epoxy primer over bodywork/metal.

I know that PPG DP epoxy primer is a self etching primer. It can be sprayed on bare metal or body work.
