Mini Starter - 94-97 Ram / Dakota?

I need to pick up a mini starter for my 440 as the new headers I got just won't clear the giant stock one.  I read a post that says a stock starter from a 94-97 Ram wiht 5.9 - 5.3L are factory mini starters and will work on my 440??

JUst want to confirm before I go pick one up ??

yup....94 Dakota starter for a 3.9 V6 engine will work also....you may have to modify the main battery cable because the large terminal is so close to engine block. The main battery cable may not reach if yours is still the OE one

you also may have to modify the shim plate that's between the starter & trans also to get mini starter to fit

this is not a "just bolt it in and go" swap....a little work will be needed

I put one on my 440 equipped belvedere, auto trans. Only modification was the removal of the terminal adapter that came on the starter. I had just enough clearance between the wire and block to be ok. I have read some people have problems with it touching the block and having to grind a little off the block so it doesnt short out but mine was ok.
