My brake release handle seems to be missing the little black part in this pic (thank you HeavyFuel). The handle just flops around and the spring just slides through the hole. Any ideas for a replacement?

what I have done to mine was take a flat washer with the hole in the middle the size of the rod, take a pair of cutters, snip the washer on one side and twist it open, then slide the spring back, put washer between spring & bracket, take pliers and close washer. Now spring will not go through hole in bracket.

I heard the OE style bushing is available, forget where, but you have to take rod out, handle off, and put it all back together without breaking handle

That's actually a great idea. :2thumbs: Thanks

I wouldn't mind hunting down the bushing, if anyone has an idea of where...

A little plastic or urethane bushing like either of these would do as well if you can find the right size.

Cut the end off a firewall insulation pin will also work

Rather than cutting a flat washer you can just tweak a split washer (lock washer) enough to slip it over the shaft in front of the spring and then bend it back flat.

I used a rubber grommet but I'm not entirely happy with it. It works, and it will work better and better the older it gets, but it rubs and squeaks and hangs up once and a while.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Heres an older thread with the OEM part # for the grommet...maybe dealers can still get them?
