What size and type fastener is used to mount the ballast resistor? I'm fairly sure it's not supposed to be a flat head wood screw.  :eek2:

most of the early cars here us the same style bolt as the starter relay, horn, etc

usually all the firewall bolts are selftating 3/8" hex head

I see what happened now. Someone installed a ballast resistor with the hole in the ceramic, instead of one with a mounting tab. Since the original bolt was too short, that went in the gutter and the nasty screw went into the firewall.
