My 73 had air but everything under the hood was gone or not working.
I ordered the Classic Auto Air "conversion" kit which came with most everything including condenser.
I had lots of issues with installation and the instructions are not very good or complete. And depending who you speak with there the help can be good or bad.  I would recommend Ron, he seems to be the only helpful one.
Anyway, it's on and works fine.

I agree, the instructions sucked.  I did the same thing, my car is an original A/C car and I just upgraded everything under the hood.  It works great though, the only issue I had was having some vacuum lines mixed around.  When I had it on max A/C it was drawing air from under the hood.  The compressor kept kicking on and off.  Took a summer to figure that out, glad I did it now.

I intend to use Classic Auto Air for my 1st Gen conversion. I have already pawed over the instructions and don't foresee any surprises. It all seems fairly straight forward really, at least for the 1st Gen anyway. The only oddity would be that the original climate controls end up operating somewhat backwards... cold is hot, etc... maybe this could be fixed with a little extra ingenuity... I haven't really studied the issue yet.

Just installed their setup on  my 68, pretty simple, but a lot easier for me as I had the dash already out. Judging by the instructions, totally doable though. :Twocents:
