I want to make sure I'm decoding this tag correctly.

The reason I'm curious is I have placed a down payment on this car but several things are bugging me about it with relation to the data on the tag.
The car actually has:
- one painted RH mirror
- Does not have cutouts for the rear valance
- SE grille (this is minor)

I do not have a photo to see if sway bars are in place but have requested more photos on that area.
'74 Rallye 4spd (WH23L4) (1 of 94)
'74 Rallye Auto (WH23L4) (quad black)
'69 Swinger 340 - 4spd
'70 Duster 340 - 4spd

ODZKing

Well, here are the only differences I cam up with:
E58 360ci 4bbl HP Police
D34 Torqueflight - Standard Duty
C56 Dual Reclining Bucket Seats, Bucket Seats
G54/64 I see as only F body.  G 31/32 would be B body I believe
J54 Sport Hood (70-71), Hood Insulation Pad
M31 Belt and Hood Moldings

Rallye pkg includes:

Obviously a few things have been changes but easy enough to fix!
What is on the second tag????????????

tfdub

I posted the data plate info on my 74 Rallye Charger a few days ago. It's also the WHL4G and it did not have the dual cutout rear valance with the slotted chrome tips. I'm adding the valance with cutouts but still have a valance without the cutouts. The tips actually touched the bottom edge of the valance which bothered me.

Yeah, it was that post that led me to this car.
Okay, perhaps it's not true that rallye's came standard with the dual cutouts.

I wonder about this piece of the tag still:
G74:    Dual Chrome Racing Mirrors

'74 Rallye 4spd (WH23L4) (1 of 94)
'74 Rallye Auto (WH23L4) (quad black)
'69 Swinger 340 - 4spd
'70 Duster 340 - 4spd

ODZKing

That second tag is the same as mine. Only one item on it ... 28.  Means 28 inch radiator.  End!

Thanks ODZKing!!
Is this piece still accurate?

I tried another source and here is eactly what I came up with.
Is there a spot on the pass door where it looks like there WAS a mirror there?
Interesting how this one says undocumented for J34 and A57 huh?

EccentricMagpies

I think it's D34 not J34.. for the the automatic transmission.
looks like a 'J' to me too.
And yes, it is strange that A57 doesn't register...

here is the link where the car is at.  It was supposedly repainted in the 90's I believe he mentions.  I just don't understand who goes from dual chrome to single painted.

Yeah, my bad of the J-D thing, sorry.
So I took a look at MY fender tag and I have G11, G35 codes listed.  O/S LH Remote Chrome Mirror.
In fact mine has no "A" code what so ever.  And I know mine was an "ordered" car. Y14 on the build sheet.

EccentricMagpies

So....   I guess my question is, does it seem like the car matches the fender tag accurately enough?
I'm just trying to be sure about what it is

Thanks
John

My 74 Rallye has only the drivers side chrome mirror on the tag but had both outside chrome mirrors when I got it. The passengers side was probably added later to mine and the one on your Rallye may have been damaged and changed over to whatever they had at the dealer or from a wrecking yard. I'd put chrome mirrors on the car to match the tag. To me, the car seems legit. The car being black would be a great one to restore.

Super cool car. There sure has been a lot of action on 74 Rallye cars lately.

Yeah.  I can see going painted to chrome.  Just odd it's a single painted from chrome.

But I suppose, as ODZKing mentioned, everyone has their own tastes.

Probably the reason is that you can still get the 73 and74 Rallyes for less money than say the 71 and 72 big block Chargers. It seems there were more of the 73/74 Chargers made with the decline of the 73/74 E-bodies production especially in 1974 when they stopped the production of the E-bodies midway through the year. The Rallye Chargers were the only performance Mopar muscle cars left after that happened. I remember those times well with the gas crunch and insurance rates sky rocketing up. I almost traded in my 71 Challenger vert for a Camaro with 305-2bbl in it. I remember going into a Dodge dealer in Long Beach, Ca. and seeing about 10 Challengers - mostly R/Ts including 2 convertibles - for sale for around $4k. Those were some dark times for the muscle cars.

I guess i never thought that they may have simply painted the chrome mirror.

Many things change through the years. Did you check the body for VIN numbers?
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

ODZKing told me the same thing.

Honestly, I'm taking or took some risk with this car.  I seen the fender tag, some bad photos and made an offer.   He accepted it.  Car is in Texas and I'm in Wisconsin.

Fortunately, everything seems to be accurate in his description and I haven't actually seen it yet.
The chrome under the paint and the black paint behind the sticker was a good sign as well.

The car supposedly has it's original drivetrain still intact.  Hasnt been driven since '02.
I asked for the rad support photo or something on the motor.  Haven't received these.

Just wondering how it worked out for you. Was the 74 Rallye everything as advertised?
