Does anyone know if it is still "open" ?  There is no mention of the driving school or anything with the quarter mile track either.  Last fall they pulled the plug on the year end series races and nothing on their web site, least that i have seen.

Sounds like it is available for testing.    Chad and Jimmie were at Little Rock testing last month.    Not much of anything on Andy H's Twitter account about future plans.

Thanks, I didn't think they would ever get cup races back again but I had hoped they would be able to keep the truck and support races. I am sure Andy had his reasons to pull the plug.

Be interesting to know what factor the sanctioning fees NASCAR charges played into the decision to shut it down.     If you have a race in place, you'd hate to give it up unless the money coming in doesn't make sense with the money going out.    It sounds like the K & N race from last fall was cancelled because the track could not meet financial obligations to NASCAR.

Shame, because Rockingham is one of the classic NASCAR tracks and is not a 1.5 mile cookie cutter.

Putting the soft walls in couldn't have been a cheap endeavor either and I am guessing it needs to be repaved as it wears tires rapidly from what I have heard. :rotz:

Installation of SAFER was claimed to be about a one million dollar expense.

Yes, they did.   Kyle Larson won it.  Not as well attended as 2012 according to the news reports.

We were there both days and  it wasn't as crowded as the first year for sure. I think one problem is there is no interstate access. We were in traffic for a quite a while coming in on RT 1.  If people don't show support at  tracks  its over before it starts.
