Secret Audio System here... after reading many reviews and having one of the Antique Automobile Radio thumbwheels in and out of my car 3 times :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:talked with Bill directly about his install and went for it. I put a really strong Alpine amp on it....This thing rocks!!! I put mine in the glove box and the amp under passenger seat.  :2thumbs: Love the little controller for when your driving....thanks Bill..Dan for posting your installs.

Years ago I hacked the crap outta the rear deck on Sinnamon to put some 6x9 Jensen co-axs in there....    it was ugly.  But the package tray had old shag carpet and speaker grills so nobody saw what I did  :yesnod:   I probably did the same hackjob crap to Black Betty 10 years ago but ...  eh...  it's covered up by the package tray.

So when I got her back we saw my old handiwork and at the same time my old wrecked jeep was getting parted,  another friend was parting some POS honda that had this nifty metal frames for 6x9 speakers in the back.    Cut. cut, weld, weld and now they're in there.    I don't have a real good pic of them specifically. :(   This is just a crop from a pic when we sprayed the truck bed liner inside a few weeks ago.

Anyway,  this time around I won't be spending $400 on a retro radio conversion - it just wasn't worth it.    I'll just buy $100 clarialpisonyasonic from best buy and hack up a old radio plate.

I've got the same hack/shag carpet combo in my '68 as well, Brian.
I can see the speaker opening mods in your pic a little, I think. Great idea. One of these days I'll get around to fixing my package tray, too.

I took a slightly better pic today.

Those don't look kludged up at all, looks like a clean setup, I was expecting a hacksawed up hole with gaps around the edges.  Took out the rotory tool with a cutoff wheel and it didn't make a dent in it, eventually got worried about the tool slipping and slicing the back seat, so took the seat out, and didn't have much room between the tray and the glass to work the tool, frustrated I ended up installing the speakers from underneath after all, was the simpler solution without the need to hack anything important.  Expecting other stereo gear to arrive by friday.

Suppose i could always try to cut them with the rotozip blade that looks like a drill bit.
