What is this and do I still need it?

I swapped the manual drums out in the front with manual disks and am in the process of piecing this back together, I bought a prop valve but now I need to know if I still need this brass piece?

Distribution block/imbalance warning light switch. That link covers adding an adjustable proportioning valve to the rear brakes. If you do a search here there are bunches of topics.

Not a prop valve, its a distribution block, and yes you still need it. Prop valve will need to be put in behind this, plumbed into the line going to the rear brakes.

It looks like a combined distribution block/proportioning valve - no need for another proportioning valve. Check first though!

That's not a distribution block.  It's a GM PV2 combination valve.  You already have prop valve and metering valve in there.  Stick a 10# residual valve behind it and you're good to go.

The correct Mopar drum/disc MC will have the RPV built in.
