"Less than normal speed of traffic".
I assume "normal" means if traffic is doing 100 mph in a 70 zone, your doing your 75-80, you get a $110.00 fine.

That would be BS in my book.
If you're going slower than traffic in the left lane you need to move over - no matter what the limit is. If you can't learn it any other way then a ticket seems appropriate. As I said waaaaay back, I hate the idea of adding more laws (especially hard to enforce ones) and I think it's ridiculous. If it solves the problem then I suppose I could support it - but I don't have high hopes.

Trust me, you'd be busting past traffic with your 4.10s in Canada! Speed limits seem to be 100 Kph (kilometers) or less. Last time I went to Moparfest I was in the Cummins Dually towing the Barracuda and felt like I was riding the brake most of the time. I swear it took longer to get from the border to my hotel than it did to get from Cincinnati to Detroit.

I like the new law. I just wish the cops were around to enforce it. I could write 5 tickets a day for left lane hogging. And that is just on my way back and forth to work....    :brickwall:
Hey, welcome to the site! I do believe I've seen (and heard!) your car in person. Several years ago, giving the parking nazis at Carlisle a hard time?

The interstate that connects the sister towns that I drive between has a reduced speed limit of 60 mph....outside of that reduced area (about 8 miles worth) the limit is 75 mph.  So we get dicks that cruise this 8 mile stretch at 75-80.

There are quite a few on and off ramps in that 8 miles.  So I like to utilize the left lane to stay out of the way of (1) the people slowing down to exit, and (2) the people coming on.

(You see, most of the folks in ND don't know how to merge onto a highway.  They just pick up a little speed on the 'on' ramp, usually never enough, then drift over into traffic, never bothering to actually turn their heads to see if another car is already in the 20 feet of space their car is about to occupy.)

I don't drive slow.....usually 5-10 mph over posted, depending on time of day/traffic conditions.

We've got a bunch of transplants living here now because of the oil industry blowing the lid off of just about everything you can imagine. (another story)  They constantly ignore what are reasonable driving speeds.

If I'm going 5-10 over, and that isn't fast enough, and I'm supposed to move over into a more congested lane to make way for some impatient jerk behind me....well.......to hell with that noise.

Pass me on the right if you want to drive 75 in a 60.

Reminds me of the cars that quickly come up behind you, pass on the left, quickly get back into the right lane just to take the same off ramp that you are.....essentially gaining them one position on the road.     Screw them, too.

Thanks Troy. Yes, unfortunately that was me.  They wanted me to move from where I was with my friends and park the car with all the other "A" bodies. I told them I didn't drive 900 miles to sit alone...  LoL..  My buddies took up for me and I kept my old car right where it was.
Man - that's some memory you have there my friend. That was in 2006...   LoL...

Can't be too many green Hemi Barracuda fastbacks in Georgia!

Imma tell you what, just when you think nobody gets it, there's a post like this one.

Reading this thread reminds me of a sunday afternoon drive I had a few years back. The road was interstate 5 in Calif. From south of Stockton to the grapevine.

I was driving to a job that started the next morning in LA and had plenty of time to make it.  I'm not sure if it was typical for that road on a sunday but both lanes were full.

The traffic seemed to pulse from 70mph to 90 mph. Everyone was tailgating by that I mean if a space for a car opened in either lane it was filled instantly.

This was the case for almost 300 miles and took both hands on the wheel with full attention.  I appreciated the fact that everyone around me settled in on the pace and accepted the fact that we will all get to where we were going if we all drive together as a unit.

In that case there were way too many cars for the two lanes but the right lane moved with the pack :2thumbs:

I dunno.  :shruggy:
I usually just play it simple and avoid the assholes on the roads.  :yesnod:  Playing games on the roads just aggravates them even more.

You wanna go? Go.
Usually I see them up ahead pulled over with 2 cops behind them reading them the act.

O. K., earlier someone said raising the speed limit to 145 MPH would solve this.

Lets not just gloss over this idea!

polywideblock

why not go with the unlimited inside lane like on the autobahn  . then all the self appointed lane monitors could experience the (insert appropriate American muscle/sports car ) missile up the clacker   :icon_smile_big:

Speed limit 145 mph.
some douche will be whining because some putz is 'only' doing 155 mph in the left lane where they are doing their 175 mph.

I agree with you....keep it simple.    :yesnod:

For my situation and driving style, which isn't unusual, 'simple' means driving at an acceptable pace for conditions, whatever is appropriate, in whatever lane.  Switch lanes when you need to.  But I don't think that involves having to watch your rearview mirror constantly to make sure that excessive speeders have a clear path.  That's why there's multiple lanes.

Reminds me of when I stand in line at the a US Post Office station at a nearby grocery store.  Many times folks have to stand in line for quite a while, just waiting their turn.  And it never fails, you always get an impatient person and 'acts' like they don't know there is a line, and bellies right up to the counter.   Um, I don't think so.  You should see my wife in situations like that......that person just usually leaves and goes to different PO when she gets done with them.

Or when you go to a concert, and find a nice spot on the floor and hang out with your friends waiting for the show to start.  When it does, again, it never fails, a bunch of disrespectful jerks push their way through the crowd and expext you to get out of their way cause "they are way more important than you".  We normally don't put up with that crap either, unless the guys are the size of NFL linemen, 'cause that would just be stupid.

And there's that perverbial 'vehicular middle finger' yet again, and the world didn't stop with bullets and blood....
