Hey guys just got news my 68 was in a fire today. It was a pretty standard car, but was solid. It was in for paint and getting the quarter put on when the fire started. Luckily the guy that was working on it and owned the garage got out with minor injuries. Now I have to go through all the insurance b.s. I've been waiting since nov 2012 to get it back. I guess I'll be in search of another project when I get my insurance money.

Ghoste

Sorry to hear about the car, I hope the rest goes easy for you and you're right, at least no one was hurt.

Thanks everyone. There's no bringing this one back. Fire started about five feet from the car and it got hot! Every panel is warped and the roof sunk about 4-5 inches.

VegasCharger

Sorry to hear the bad news. Hope it gets sorted out soon for you so that you can move on to your next Charger journey.

Also welcome to the site.

Sorry about your Charger. Just make sure the title matches the car in the actual fire. Might have been switched.

Cooter

Glad nobody was hurt. Sorry bout your car.

Man that sucks.  :-\    I agree with GordonGriggs, make sure the VIN number on the burned car is for sure yours. There are a lot of dishonest people around that will take advantage of a any situation.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

As a firefighter who has gone to hundreds of these calls, all I can say is "that sucks"!
I have yet to be at one that involved a classic car which is good; wouldn't want my crew wondering why the Captain is crying!

its definitely mine, I know every rust hole in that car. Haha! All that was left to do was put the quarters on and it was ready for paint. Now I have the whole front clip with freshly painted fenders, hood and deck lid ready to go on something. Also still have the original interior and several motor parts at my house. I guess Ill be looking for another solid 68.

This really sucks on MANY levels.  Hopefully all goes well with insurance, etc. and a replacement surfaces soon.
Me: Why didn't they make this bracket easier to get to and adjust?  It would have been much simpler with a little design change...

Dad: I'll tell you why.....It would have made too much damn sense, that's why.

That sure is bad news, keep the faith you'll find another one.
