Awesome pic rp23g7 !!!!  I was a 21 year old Marine Sgt. just back from Vietnam in May 1968!  Bought a 1968 Triumph Bonneville 3 days back from 'Nam and didn't own a car until early 1969.  Rode and drove my buddy's 1968 Charger with a 383-4spd and his 1969 Charger R/T.

Wish I had thought of a van but, ..... absolutely not on my radar then.  I think those old vans are very cool now!

It was my dads work horse and daily driver.  We live in Seattle, and our grand parents etc, live in Texas.  We drove it there 2 or 3 times when we were young.  Went camping in it until 73 when he bought a RV.

The original 318 went 272,000 miles, the rebuild went another 100,000, trans rebuild with the second engine rebuild, it had almost another 100,000 on it when he got rid of it.  Still had the original rear end in it.

No one could belive he sold it, but he had bought a 95 Chrysler LXi and a 84 Dodge mini van? to replace it.  He had all the service records of it, and it got sold to a dog babysitter, we saw it around for a while.  Then I saw a add on craigslist for it.

Turns out it had been sold, and the next guy was going to restore it, but couldn't find info on the vans, I called my dad and he called him, and I guess the guy kept it, not sure where it is now

A friend of mine would drive his mother's '68 Dodge A108 window van with a 318 (looked just like rp23g7's picture) until he purchased a 64 Dart GT for himself.   It made of great "get away" vehicle when toilet papering houses back in the day.   Just leave the van around the cover with those side doors open..."easy out and quick in".  He would also turn the windshield water sprayers to the side in order to shoot water on any friends that might be standing on the sidewalk...better than a power blaster!  :D
