I've got em , grippy enough, just feel the same as the BFG's , don't drive her enough to you how they wear, but one thing to keep in mind
Sizes the same , but side by side physically smaller, don't understand how that can be you see for you self,

BFG's run on the large size of the sizing spectrum. Large meaning wider, not taller. I saw that when I replaced the "house branded" tires on the 72 with BFG's.

1973 Charger Rallye, 4 speed, muscle rat. Whatever engine right now?

I've noticed that among other tire brands too.  I think the sizing may not be a rigidly held spec?

I recall reading thread in the past few months (but can't find it) that went into the rubber compounds on these tires and implied that the straight line traction of the BFG T/A might be less than the MT and Cooper tires because of a longer wearing rubber compound.  Maybe someone else can shed light on this. :shruggy:
Who in their right mind would say

"The science should not stand in the way of this."?

Science is just observation and hypothesis.  Policy stands in the way.........

Or maybe it protects us.

I suppose it depends on the specific case.....

Kinda like shoes then.  It has a size on it but it really doesn't mean much when you compare them to other brands.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

My Radial TA's aren't the greatest for traction.  I can't give you any scientific evidence other than dragstrip experience with them.

I have a set of them.   Nice tire for the $$, good traction & nice riding tire

Last June I bought a set for my '68 Coronet. About 5 months later I found cracks in the sidewall of one.

No, according to the date code on the tire it wasn't old when I bought it. Not sure what caused the cracks, no one could give me a good explanation for them. I'm keeping a close watch on the others.

I would first check all 4 tires build numbers. Write them down. Then get in touch with the place you bought them and explain your dilemma. In no way should they have cracked in such a short time. The build dates and batch numbers should probably, (not guaranteed), be the same. The place you bought them should replace that tire for free. A good tire store will call the manufacturer and see if all 4 can be replaced if they all have the same batch number.

Here in Florida I see cracks in tires long before I ever would have living up North, but I have never seen a tire crack inside of a year, even on a cheap brand.

If it were my care I would not be driving on a cracked tire. Especially one that cracked in such a short timeframe. They could have had a bad batch and you surely don't want to be blasting down the strip or highway and have it blow to bits...

As soon as I saw the cracks I had them order in a replacement. But your advice is well taken.

I bought my set in May of 2010.  No issues to date with cracks etc.  I do switch them out during the season when the mood arises for my steelies & redlines so I do check them regularly.

Im sure if you contacted M/T one of the excuses they probably threw at you was "improper mounting" was the cause of the crack. :rotz:

PS--thanks poly
