what is the plastic wire connector by the ballast resistor use for? Thanks for your help

ACUDANUT

When you get the "kit" is comes with a very easy "how to do list".
What problems are you having ?

ACUDANUT

"what plastic wire connector " are you referring to. ?  These are metal wires , that connect to a ceramic housing. Show us what you did and we can find a solution. :2thumbs:

The plastic connector (white, 2 wire) by the ballast resistor nothing is connected to it.

Hi,

I have a stock 71 that I've owned since new so I know its never been modified. That white two pin connector is not part of my stock wiring harness. Also, a 71 did not have electronic ignition and the alternator voltage regulator is mounted where your orange box ignition module is now. What type alternator is on your car? If it's a one wire type, perhaps that white connector was supposed to go to a voltage regulator. But, it's not a stock Chrysler type connector.

That is for a 73 up set up. The double ballast ... you should have 2 connectors.
You can see it pretty clearly in this pic

actually the white plastic conector is the stock piece in ALL Mopars coming with Factory electronic ignition which began being 5 pins modules.

dunno which wires you have connected on the ballast, but it seems you have a mix of diff wiring setups.

would need to define what wires are using or not, to use the right wiring

Orange ECU module kit comes with single wires ballast plugs ( matching with 4 pins modules ), but if you buy a new harness from repro manufacturers ( Evans, M&H ), they will come with 5 pins ECU/dual ballast setup plugs

The Evans one I purchased came with 4 pin to ECU and 2 double plugs for the ballast.
It's on the car now.

yes of course making a stock resto job, they should came ready to dual ballast

ECU plug is the same for 4 and 5 pins, just one wire on 4 pins without use ( green traced red ), Which arrives to the dual plug whith the brown wire.
