THE CHARGER PUNK

That triple black 68 is freakin awesome.anyone out there with triple black 68 and 69 chargers(black vinyl roof, black paint and black interior). please post pics.and since this is a dodge charger site does anyone here actually own or know someone that owns the triple black 68 charger r/t from this movie?any pics would be much appreciated.-MATT

Troy

Did you see the thread about black Chargers? I thought you already knew where they all were?

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

68charger70cuda

this movie has a great line where the cop that owns the black charger tells his deputy why he needs to use his own car to catch the challenger - "It takes a mopar to catch a mopar!"

then he goes out and wrecks it...

694spdRT

It was reported that they wrecked a ratty one and not the "good" one.
1968 Charger 383 auto
1969 Charger R/T 440 4 speed
1970 Charger 500 440 auto
1972 Challenger 318
1976 W200 Club Cab 4x4 400 auto
1978 Ramcharger 360 auto
2001 Durango SLT 4.7L (daily driver)
2005 Ram 2500 4x4 Big Horn Cummins Diesel 6 speed
2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7 Hemi

THE CHARGER PUNK

yeah they did wreck one. not a ratty one though it was a blue non #'s match 68 charger r/t and the other car was a triple black #'s match 68 charger r/t. also in the driving scenes with the cops inside the charger it shows that they are not in it because you can see the end of the challenger hood and the car is flat black and you can also see the challenger style window and the high back seats. i wonder why they painted the chally flat black instead of mounting cam equipment on the charger.-MATT

The owner of the 68 R/T charger in the V.P. remake movie claims he has the original movie R/T car and is located in Nevada.   I had my 68 r/t out one day and he came up to me....told me he owned the actual movie car....He mentioned that it was being restored in Boulder City Nevada...I've yet to see the car...but the source seems reliable.

Afflyer

I've only seen a part of the V.P. remake.  I have the original on DVD.  I was a bit dismayed at myself and Cinemax, as I programmed our DVR to record the newer film very late, one night before going to bed.  When I sat down to watch the recording last night- the original was the one recorded!!! Damn!  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Afflyer, that sucks! The copy I've got is one my brother recorded for me the first time it aired on TV...what a pal, huh? I might have to get the DVD soon, so I've got a better quality recording, though.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I own the triple black '68 R/T clone on the Speedvision American Musclecar specials - (Charger episode, Dodge- Chrysler's Go-Fast Division) - I was living in GA at the time the filiming took place. It was a pretty wild day. tried posting pics but all are too big.

I love that car, try to post or host em to post em! ;)

I know the guy who has all the challengers left from filming the remake, they made 6 units for filming, 1 was destroyed, 1 was a half car mounted on trailer, 1 was the main car, then 1 backup for main, 1 stunt car, 1 backup stunt car. he had the 2 main 1 stunt and the half car. None had hemi's although he restored the #1 car to a correct hemi clone, 2 he left in as filmed condition, they both are in Floyd Garrett's muscle car museum. I remember him saying on car was actually a 73 with a 70 tail and front grafted on. Sorta thrown together like the Duke's Chargers. He sells used moparts, They bought alot of parts from him while building the cars for the movie, and He bought them after filming. never heard what happen to the 3X black chargers though.

I know I have said this before. But if you watch in the begining when they walk thru the shop. You will see a lighted sign sitting on a table. It has a big penta star on it. I made that sign back in the early 80's. There were 6 or 8 of them. Also some of those cars belong to old friends of mine.

Stormhammer

care to make more of those lightup pentastars? I think it'd look badass in the garage  :icon_smile_approve:

Hmmm, sure enough! It's really noticeable when they show inside shots of Kowalski & the cops back to back.
