Yeah it was something like 1 billion dollars a few months ago and they dropped it to $300k.  Been a couple of threads on it.

daveco

Simple fact is that the best it will ever be is a car that was "very likely" to have been used in the movie.
No way to ever say it's the car for sure.

Never say never - if the sales order for that car is found one day in a pile of old dusty boxes in a storage bin forgotten for years - then it will be verified.

Likelihood of that happening = about the same as the ark of the covenant being found in the dumpster behind a jack in the box.

But not impossible.

Never understood why a movie car is more valuable than a non movie car! It's is just an other car, after all!
If someone is going around telling everyone that his car is from a movie then he is just a prick in my book showing off his money! But that is just me!

Why should a movie star make more money than say a janitor?
Why should a CEO make more than say the mail clerk?
Why should the president of a company make more than the low man on totem pole?

You know exactly why it's worth more. Don't hate, ask for documentation.

But you talk about PEOPLE who contribute, cars are just objects!Movie stars got more because they sell the movie,a CEO makes the company earn money(most cases)these people have more responsibility than a worker.Wouldn't ask why a CEO got more money or wouldn't ask why a hemi worth more than a 318 but just being in a movie makes a car worth trillions just stupid!

Obviously, trying to explain this to you is an exercise in futility.

Would the dukes of hazzard been the same without the general lee?
Would airwolf been the same without the bell 222?

now is a 68 charger worth a billion dollars??? I wouldnt pay it if i had it to spend. But thats just me.

Ghoste

I wouldn't even say its "very likely" this is the car.  To me, it's quite possible but his evidence is circumstantial at best and erasing that evidence in his restoration does nothing to help his case or for the value of the car IMO.

It's funny you mention airwolf (another of my favorite childhood shows), I've always thought the B222 was a sexy machine!  I work on Sikorsky helicopters for a living, but I'd love to go for a ride in a B222.   :drool5:

A 100yo tea cup from the wreck of the Titanic is still just a 100yo tea cup.

A baseball signed by Babe Ruth is just a baseball with some ink on it.

A factory HemiCuda is just an old Plymouth with an interesting VIN number and a Hemi drivetrain.

Right?

Ghoste

What if the Titanic cup just looks like it could be one and the owner jus found it at a yard sale for 20 bucks?  What if the Hemi Cuda has no documentation, it just looks like an original car?  What if the baseball had the autograph but the owner scrubbed it off during a cleanup but don't worry, he assures you he is positive it is real?

General Grant?  :scratchchin:

Blue Thunder?     :scratchchin:

*I really liked the TV show, Airwolf...a fun fact about the show was that they were not allowed to fly over LA with the dummy guns mounted.  They had to wait until they arrived at the filming site to mount the Hollywood guns...sadly the Bell was sold to an Air Ambulance firm in Germany where it was lost in a fatally accident.

Hi Folks,

GGGreat subject this!
I believe the Bullit Charger was a one off car?
Most Films have a least three cars of identcal design.
Miami Vice had 3 0r 4 Cudas?
Fast and Furious-5 had 4-'70 Chargers' which were all 69 cars with 70 front ends.
How do I know this, a friend of a friend supplied the cars and he had no 70 cars!
He sold me a 69 fender off one of those 69-cars (blue) the rest in my opinion were junk!
They were all $1250 each!!!
He said 'double bubble' for movie car parts, twice the price of a new one! :RantExplode:

If it been signed by Vin or Paul then I might feel better about he price LoL. :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

ps my mate help build the 'Joe Dirt' car and it was a the Spring-Fling for $25,000 back in the day!
Now its $125,000, thats inflation and Cult status for you.

IF A JOB's WORTH DOING, ITS WORTH DOING WELL, RIP DAD.
4-SPEED, 1969 Charger-500 is the most Coolio car in the World!

Cooter

A fender signed by Buddy Baker ain't worth no more than a new one to me. I couldn't bolt on my junk, so useless to me.
this same thing keeps happening in the "Christine" world. One guy who has NO PROOF that he was even in the junkyard back in 84, pulls out parts every so often from his never-ending supply and sells em as 'movie parts'. He once documented parts over the phone and sold a piece of trim to somebody that wasn't even from a 58 Plymouth. As long as there's people who will buy blindly, these types will prosper.

There was a lot of talk awhile back about this Charger being used as a camera car.  And while they may have....it appears as if at least during the chase scenes, this car was used....

"Camera car" can mean more than one thing.  It could mean a car pacing alongside the two "acting" cars, or it could mean the actors are sitting inside it with cameras looking at them close-up.

Hero car....Hollywood term. For close ups.

I went and looked at a movie Charger for sale back in 97,the "Bronx tale" Charger,318 car, auto on column. Was in Newington,Ct for $5,500.Had some rust popping out on lower 1/4's/fenders.I passed as I wanted a real R/T.Don't know where it went, never seen it again around here after that.

What pisses me off more is the arrogance of some people who are putting out these "claims" for public consumption. They typically have zero real evidence, and when somebody says "hey, I don't think so", they go crazy nuts trying to prove they are RIGHT, by trying to prove the other person is WRONG.

My answer to them is "you put the bullshit out there not me!"  - what did you think was going to happen?  :moon:  Did you expect everyone was going to believe you

Ghoste

Yeah really.  What is so horrible about just saying, "hey my evidence is circumstantial, can anyone help me prove this with certainty"?

Cooter

C'mon fellas, you all know true power lies not in "facts" but the ability to tell such a lie that you get the whole world to agree.

I get that, but what chaps my ass is the "sheeple" that buy the lies and DEFEND them.
The ONLY reason this Christine wasn't crushed in the beginning was the owner who had "some guys word" that it might a been real, because of his terminally ill child. What would you have done? Came out like "that guy" and caused this kid to have a coronary and die because of a broken heart?

Well, sadly, "Derrick" passed last year. GAME ON.. Prove it now. Well, there's those idiots that refuse to put ketchup on their words, so they defend the fake without actually seeing proof. Fact is stranger than fiction.
