Hi

(stock 440/6 Superbird)

This is going to be hard to explain.

Someone put a block of wood under the carpet to stop the clutch pedal traveling too far.
I removed this block, wondering why it was there.
I pushed the clutch in, and now there is no clutch. I mean the pressure plate has remained open. I guess the pressure plate "fingers" have sprung the wrong way due the extra travel???!!!
how is this possible? could it has the wrong clutch and pressure plate?
My setup is stock, but not sure on the clutch and pressure.

any thoughts

I believe that the Centerforce diaphragm units will do that. I forget what the fix was, and it might have been a pedal stop.  Don't remember for sure.

It is recommended that the overcenter spring be removed for use of a centerforce clutch, but I think this is something more than that.

Thanks

Please keep the possible answers coming, as I'm stumped.
Why a block of wood under the pedal to stop further travel?
Is there anyway to get the "fingers" to spring back, without removing the gearbox etc?

My pedal has never traveled smoothly, so I guess the best option is to remove all and replace.
What clutch and pressure plate setup is recommended? It's a A-833, 18 spline, so is it clutch 11"?

Cheers

Yeah.  That Is what I remember now that you mention it.  Still might need the stop.

My guess us too long a throwout bearing. You should have a 10.5 dia. Clutch.

If the pedal stays on the floor you need to removed the overcenter spring.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
