Fuel pump- arm pressure/resistant

While I'm throwing new parts at the engine I decided to buy a new fuel pump. The old one I can use one finger to push the arm down. The new one take probably 50-80 pounds of pressure to push down. I've replaced these before, don't remember the spring on the arm being so stiff  . The is a Carter pump for my 440.
