are slot mags uncool now ? dors anyone still have them, I am starting to like them again. They suited the charger so well.

myk

If you like 'em, use 'em...

Lord Warlock

People like them because they are retro looking, they aren't in fashion now, but they still have plenty here that like them.  I've got the slots that came on my car when i got it, set aside in favor of newer magnum 500s but keep them just in case i want 15 inch wheels one day.

High Impact

Not a charger but Im going to run these this summer.  15x8.5 rears 15x4 fronts!

Ghoste

I love them and with the spoked style so everywhere now, I wouldn't be surprised if slots made a comeback.

HPP

Problem is most vintage ones are 14". You can occasionally find 15" but tire selection isn't great. American Racing was re-popping 17" ones for a while, but I think they discontinued them.

Hemidog

Hells yeah! front 14x7, rear 15x10.

don duick

Thanks for your opinions. 15 inch very rare in Australia

yeah I am starting to tire of spoke wheels, slots are starting to look fresh again they looked so good on the DMCL charger. Chrysler Australia had slot mags as a factory option on the valiant RT charger.

Dino

Not the most exciting wheel in the world, but it's hard to go wrong with slot mags, they do look good on a Charger and almost a must if you want that 70's look.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Hey buddy, if you are throwing them on a Citroen a big block Dodge is the only other improvement you could make.  :2thumbs:

dangina

you can buy them from american racing in 17" now as VNA69 ansen sprints

toocheaptosmoke

Scored a couple 15x7 slots last year off craigslist, then found some vintage mr. gasket chrome wheel nuts in the bargain bin at the local parts store to go with them.  Love the retor look.  Need to get a set of 15x8 wheels for the back and move the slots up front, currently running some 15x6 steelies up there now.  (needs more tire up front)  Something to look for if I get out to carlisle again this year.  :yesnod:

johnnycharger

Just got mine mounted this morning!

comet_666

Nice!
Are they 15's or 17's?

johnnycharger

Thanks!  15x7. I got them at a swap meet and polished them up

I think the rear on mine is 15x10 or 15x9.....L-60 is bias-ply tire...I would have to actually look at what rear tire size I got on mine..been so long

I picked up a pair of 15x10s a few summers ago mounted on some bias-ply L-60's. Want to put them on the rear of mine but not sure if they'll fit :shruggy:

Lord Warlock

L-60s should fit with no problems,  I had L-50's on mine for a looooooong time and they fit fine, there was some rubbing marks on the inner fenderwell on one side, but i can't attribute those marks to the L-50s, its more likely due to the fact that my tires were mounted on rims too small to handle them and the side bulge occasionally rubbed against the undercoating.

Seems like I have about 4 inches more I can fit.

fy469rtse

Use those on the front and order two more for the rear, you haven't fitted them so there considered brand new still ?
Can you return them and exchange for wider ,
By the way cars coming along nicely , looking great

comet_666

These are the largest they make 17x9.
I really like them, but they just are not big enough.

if they made like 17x12 I think I would be good. Does anyone know if American Racing makes custom wheels?

71green go

there are places that will widen rims....

HPP

If they are forged or three piece they can. If they are cast, no go.

American Racing used to have the AR Custom shop where they could do things like this, about 5-6 years ago. I'm not sure if they still offer that or not. I'd recommend surfing their website to see if they still have it listed, or call and talk to them direct. They may be able to create a custom offset, for a fee of course.
