I have been thinking about buying a tactical style stock for my plain Jane 10/22, mostly because the pistol grip setup is more comfortable. I am hoping also that one might create a better situation for clearance between my front hand and the 25-round magazine. Have any of you done this type of conversion? What is a good brand?

I have a Boyd's stock on my 10/22 with a trigger mag drop dealio... pretty trick. Dunno if that will help with your 25 round mag since out here in cali all we have is 10 rounders...  :'( But I like the look and feel of it. :Twocents:

Well, the 10/22s have a sort of design flaw. I say "sort of" because it doesn't exist when you're using the stock 10-round magazine. The "banana clips" curve forward and get in the way of your forward arm. I know some of the AR-style stocks have forearm handles which would probably solve the problem to a degree but I've never fired a rifle using one of those handles so I don't know if I'd like it. I tend to think I wouldn't but I don't know.

I like the trimag setup which clamps three stock magazines together but I already have probably 8-10 of the 25-round magazines and only three of the stock magazines. Can't say I really want to buy more 10-round magazines but I probably only need a total of nine or so. They're just more difficult to carry around when varmint hunting.

Nice setup! Wouldn't work for my shooting style but it is cool.

Moving your support hand closer to the muzzle should remedy the problem and give you more control of the rifle. Most of my rifles have 30 round mags, SKS-D, VZ-58, 10/22 (25 round) and I haven't had an issue. I'm not saying your doing anything wrong, but maybe give it a try.

I'll try it. It would take some learning, or relearning, for sure. The only problem I foresee is that there's not much room between where I normally put my hand and the end of the forearm.

You have the carbine I take it? Me too. Try getting pretty close to the barrel band.
