To really add to the rarity of that beast, the 440 Hemi is fueled by "electric".

Same here!  The very first comment I got on the car, the very first time I filled it up.  Some guy came up to me and said he had one just like it, a '71 with a 440 hemi.  And it's a '69...   :smilielol:

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...I may have done a bit of both.

Don't know why but around here it was always a 383 Hemi or a 383 Six Pack.  ::)

hemihead

Around here it's a 383 6 Pak Hemi .  ::) Lots of GM guys around here . :eek2:
Lots of people talkin' , few of them know

Now that's interesting!

Well I am a bit closer to Detroit than you guys and you know size matters here.

AND... for any of you considering the car you better hurry.  Stacy says there is a buyer flying in from another city tomorrow and he has bought from them before so he is obviously a player.  I'd say today is your last chance.

I saw a 360 Hemi in a truck one time!

I once owned the rarest of them all - the Slant 6 Hemi.  The valve cover was truly a thing of beauty.  :icon_smile_wink:

That might explain the different idles that my car would have, it must have been switching between 440 and hemi.....and here I thought it was a vacuum leak....   :icon_smile_big:     :popcrn:

But the spark plugs did not go through the valve covers.  So errrt.

TheAutoArchaeologist

Not to throw a monkey wrench into everything... but there was a 440 Hemi.

Stage 5 made Hemi heads that would bolt on a 440.  I know, this isn't stock and I understand the context.  But I saw a 70 Challenger last year with a "440 Hemi" and it was the 440 block with conversion heads.

Also if you really wanna throw people....

1974dodgecharger

if I could slap hemi heads on my 383 I would......

Big whoopee, there fella. I once put a 360 Hemi-yes 360 Hemi in a '62 Dart wagon (really, no fooling) :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

Moparheaven

The Hemi that was based on a 440 was made by Arruzza if I remember correctly. He made the mods to put His Hemi head on a 440 block, and there actually was 6 cyl Hemi that went to Australia if I remember correctly. Guy in Nevada has one. Is rebuilding it right now and is trying to make the Vegas show, Mopars at the Strip.

Although, LOTS and LOTS of Chevy guys claim to have Hemi's. I've heard them all 318, 440, 383. and even some made up numbers.

As to the Rarity of the 440 Hemi, you know the factory originals ( not Arruzza) they are actually not that rare, In fact every Corvette owner has heard of them, and has owned 2 or 3 of them. They speak of them openly and in groups to show their wide and vast knowledge of the Dodge family while asking you what a MOPAR is and what it stand for. They also all will claim that they had the first muscle car in 1964, when we all know that they were very very late to that show. Mopar can easily show Muscle starting in 57, and what about the Max Wedge cars. But what really gets me is a Ford guy. What do they have? Mustang?  :D :icon_smile_big:
