reman power steering pump

I see on ebay quite a few remanned power steering pumps for the 68 charger, but most say they are for the 318 engine; my car is a 383 with A/C and I have a TRW pump with resevoir.
Are power steering pumps unique to engine sizes? After a full resto the last thing I want is to have the pump leak steering fluid all over my engine bay, but I cant seem to find a reman one. I am thinking the 383 A/C one has unique bracket fitting points which is maybe why the cardone ones on ebay are listed for the 318?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I believe all the pumps are the same - as long as you get the right family (Federal, TRW, Saginaw). I don't see any value in making different pumps for every engine/accessory combination. In this thread Gene mentions buying a reman pump and then swapping the housing and pulley with the original. That way you'd be sure it would fit.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I don't believe engine size has anything to do with it. I'm sure was a supply issue back in the day that caused the confusion today so if you want originality, and you want your brackets to work, you'd be better off sending your stock pump away for rebuild. I almost made the mistake of trading my pump in for a rebuilt pump and I'm glad I didn't because it would have created a big mess.

Steer and Gear does good work.

Here's my story on that: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,69569.0.html
