Democracy emergency RIGHT NOW in Venezuela

even we have been on these from years being in a "blurry" democracy, now is frontal. Lot of ppl on streets ( mainly students, locally is the Youth day ) on manifestations around the country, some have being killed. TV channels are censored. At this moment some international Channels has being cut from cable TV 'cause they were showing all the manifestations

TV websites are being hacked or "failing"

We don't have more news than Facebook, Twiter and similars social networks.

Yeah, I read that Toyota was stopping production down there because they wasn't allowed to import parts.  Also read elsewhere that they was having to distribute foreign currency for some reason.  What a mess Just the tip of the iceberg I guess

not really import cars..., actually BRING IN THE PARTS to keep the assembly line working in Toyota. that's because the money exchange market is blocked ( but this is from years, remember I have had to use my imagination tu get parts from USA ), and all we think at this moment, the goverment is broke out.

It's a horrible thing sir but I believe your words are true. I'm not a doom and gloom fear monger or a religious zealot but the state of affairs in all of these united states tell the tail.

To say it will be a revolution is an understatement. Not only will the people of America be fighting the government and the corporations......they have their own security elements, we will also be fighting the criminal population that will grossly swell in numbers to do what they do best. Kill, steal, rape, prey on the weak and lay waste to everything they come across. On top of this nightmare we will be further tested fighting off all the outside vultures who will try and take this country for their own during this upheaval. We will also be fighting each other for those couple cans of soup or that bag of oatmeal.
I'm not a prophet of doom and I pray smarter rational people will turn our country around. Pardon my doubts but I have difficulty seeing that happening.

Were it up to me we'd be down there helping out istead of sending billions in aid to nations that hate us. IMO the US is missing out on a.mutually beneficial opportunity by ignoring your plight. Venezuelans want freedom and we want a friend with lots.of oil. Seriously though, I don't understand the silence and neglect on the issue either.

on a good part... Two National Guards Coronels are on detention right now on the city of Valencia ( 3 hours from where I am ) because denied to act against a manifestants group.

I may be a forever an optimist but it seems harder and harder for governments to get away with what they have in the past.

The way we communicate these days puts them in the spot light like never before and the whole world can see.

I'm with the rest of the posters here in that we are concerned. And that you be wary and careful. It's hard to say how I would feel unless I was in your shoes Natcho. --Something like this needs to confront us in order to know how it feels.

This may be considered a political issue and thereby inappropriate for this forum but if we are restrained in our postings perhaps we can follow what Natcho has to share with us and learn some stuff from his vantage point.

and, well, Oliver Stone made a movie about Chavez, what goverment MADE US TO WATCH ON TV on all TV channels at the same time ( chained ) on march 5th, the day which "officially" Chavez died ( which for us is the day the Chavez wax fixture was finished... really we think he died on last week of December 2012 ). that's true BUT mostly is because the insecurity in the country ( many ppl being robbed and killed ), not really because the actual political situation. The hotel advises about that has being pressent since years now. Actual situation just adds more to the jar.

If ppl wants to check videos made and edited by some buddies I know and work, check Braulio Jatar Videos on Youtube. Of course is just ONE  camera man, so he can just record one of the fights at the time, but there are dozens around the country. Some are worst than the videos recorded specially in a city called San Cristobal.
