Unbelievable.  :o
A sink hole occurs smack dab in the middle of the museum, & swallows up cars. Not in the parking lot, not a block away, but right in the center of this showroom.  :icon_smile_dissapprove:
What are the odds of that???  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Too risky to enjoy driving, so he parks it in a museum. Should be safe there he thinks :brickwall:

At least they weren't Mopars!!!

This time. Sucks either way. I am not hard core Mopar. I love a little of everything.

I'm not a Vette guy either but I still feel for them.  It could have been a Mopar museum and then we'd be the ones howling.

Better than you might think, actually.  The construction probably inadvertently caused the issue to fester.

The incident is unfortunate but I'm not crying very hard.  The list of casualties is mostly stock-ish 1990s/2000s production models.

Everything underneath that black '62 Vette is gonna be ugly. :'(  I'm not sure the last few cars will be salvageable, but GM design center says they will do everything they can to restore them so who knows?  :shruggy:

All those Corvettes just went up in value..... Seriously..... Once they're plucked from the hole & repaired, anyone who owns one now has bragging rights to the world famous, "Sink Hole Corvettes" that everyone has seen.

guessing you didn't see the red 84 that came out today. Not good.

4 out of 4 are out... Wait, the 5th one came out... So the 1,000,000th Corvette and the PPG Pace Car came out today  :2thumbs:

I don't mind Vetts are all, but I always hated working on them. They are not 6'3" 250 friendly to work on..

I watched a few video's and I know it is a hole, but it doesn't look like any SINKHOLE I have ever seen. Must be the dirt up there is doesn't pour into crevices like sand in a timer! That size hole here would have been 50 - 60 feet deep in an instant and probably kept right on growing..

I didn't notice any rebar in that slab....    :icon_smile_blackeye:

Sorry, couldn't help myself...had several text me that the day of the event.

I'm 100% Mopar, but you hate to see anything like that happen regardless of the car.  I've always just respected the person and what they are into regardless how it deviates from my own interests.  Hopefully everything gets taken care of...

Unfortunately, not too many use rebar anymore due to the price of it.  Probably used cat hair instead.  Relax Tuffy, I mean fiberglass ;)

Don't beat yerself up ol' buddy....I don't think a 20Ft deep X 40Ft wide sinkhole swallowing up eight of the most significant Corvettes was on anyone's prediction list this year!  :D

It's a lot deeper than that, unfortunately  :'(

Here is one of the smaller sinkholes (from an abandoned mine)  in a local golf course a couple years ago...a "smaller" one....that golf course is shut down now...a new mine bought everything up...it is now an open pit...

TUFCAT

Its been over a week since I've heard any news from Bowling Green about the recovery attempts.  The last car out was this 1984 PPG Indy pace car thingy... :eek2:

Has anyone heard if the rescue operation is stalled or what?

DadsCharger00

To my knowledge they are all out and on display.   Will stay that way for a year then restore

Three are still in the hole. They stopped operations to shore the hole and micro pile around the perimeter.

Just watched the season finale of AmeriCarna with Rick Hendrick visiting the Corvette museum before the sinkhole. Real sad.
