I have a 4 quart pan on a 72 440 I'm hoping to upgrade.  The 6 qt hemi pan seems to be a favorite but it doesn't look like Mancini carries it.  They seem to have the 5 qt and 8 qt pans:

Instead, is this the one I should get from 440Source?

If so, would it require a special windage tray or would I be able to use the stock one I have?

Also, suggestions regarding the pump, pickup (1/2"?), and stick, as well as whether I need another drive and bushing would be welcome.

Many thanks!

Mancini still carries the hemi pan & pickup package branded under their house name.  :scope:

Stock windage tray works fine and i'd opt for the 3/8 pickup unless you plan on revving this thing to 7000 rpm on the dragstrip.  ;)

Ron, recommended this same pan for our 507 stoker and it came in Friday. It looks good and is ready to paint with a little degreasing beforehand. I would say you can't go wrong for your application.

Thanks guys!  Should I upgrade to the HV pump also?  I'm inclined to, but will the increased oil pressure also increase drag on the engine?  I can't afford to lose any HP, and like the old lady who pissed into the ocean said, "every little bit counts." :icon_smile_big:  Already, there is a noticeable difference between when the oil is cold and when it is warm.

What is your Hot oil pressure at idle ? I like a min of 30 psi at hot idle so if you have that you're good to go.  :2thumbs:

In general bearing clearances determine the need for a HV/HP pump. I prefer to set the clearances a little loose to allow for thermal expansion and run the HV pump to compensate.  :yesnod:

The oil pressure is only 18-20 during warm idle.  I don't know what the clearance is, so to be safe, I'm guessing I should at least get this HV pump: http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/bhehivopuwbo.html

But let me know if I should go with the HP version instead:  http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/bhehiprpuwbo.html

Also, would the drive or bushing need to be replaced?

Thanks again!

I'd go with the HV pump and the stock oil pump drive works fine. The bronze bushing should fit snug with zero play side to side.
