Why Are 70's Considered Lesser Than 68/69's ?

No hideaways on 3rd gnes for you?  Interesting.  I've always felt they should have been standard through 74 on the Charger.

I couldn't own a 69 , its 68 or 70 only , the divider just kills it stone dead for me. There, I've said it, cue burning torches and angry mob townsfolk Simpsons  :icon_smile_big:
Hideaway headlight Gen III's also get the tick.

I agree completely. Have NEVER been a fan of the devider. Reminds me too much of the post 71 barracuda.

It's funny how strong we feel about the details.  I have always loved the 68 grille but do not dislike the 69 grille at all, they both have a great look.  But in five years of driving my 68 I never liked the tail lights as much as I do those on the 69.  Funny we never bicker about the body lines.

I could have any one in the stable and be very happy.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

True enough with the body lines Dino, the tail light treatment 69 is cool as is 70 with the update, but the 68 Jet Thrust look is King , the counter to Forward Look, the Going Away Fast Look
Interestingly, the 71/72 Aussie XA Falcon Hardtop tailights seem to channel the 69/70 Charger ones with the reverse cut upward look, in my humble opinion anyway, cant load a pic off my phone

because they were trying to emulate their big  brother...?   :stirthepot:

It's interesting to me how each of the big 3 looked to government regulations
that were coming.  I prefer the way MoPar handled it!  In my opinion Chevy
painted themselves into a corner with Camaro bumpers + they cut compression
too soon.

I prefer the 70 over 68 & 69.  I looked long & hard at what each had to offer.
This includes all Chargers from 66 - 74.  It was due to a friend & his 74 that
I was certain I wanted a Charger in the first place.  It was size, performance
and comfort that won me over.  2nd gen for style & performance was an easy
choice.  Then what 70 brought to the plate?  OK the lower dash is not padded;
but the highback buckets make that worth the trade off.  Then there's the big
loop bumper.  There again, the hood & fenders are the nicest of the 3.  Perfect
tradeoff or nicely integrated package....you decide.  I like it just fine!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had to have a 3rd gen too - since in was a 74 that converted me in my
impressionable years.  So, I got a 72 SE 400.  It's got hidden headlights!

Just out of interest, as the handling and tech upgrades including interior progressed, had 70 changed to front disc only?

No it was an option, not standard.

I have always loved the 1970 Charger over all others. I had 5 70 Chargers over a period of 8 years, starting in 1974. Unfortunately, totalled all 5 of them, all RT's, including a Hemi, 4 speed car. Have been more careful with my current 70 RT.

I had one 68 RT, and a 69 RT, and just did not like the overall look as well. Everyone has their favorites. Ultimately, the only value that counts is the value to you personally. Only thing that would make me give up my 70 is an even trade for one of the new Challengers coming out with factory supercharged Hemi.

Currently reassembling my drive train. Adding 500 ci stroker, broke in on Dyno with 525 HP, 640 torque. Adding modern electrical, cooling, 4 wheel disks, A/C and chassis strengthening. Want to be out and about in it this Spring.

would you prefer a mustang where they look the same year after year.

its nice to see all 3 gens 2 designs.

I chose a 68 because you see a lot of them in the north east.

I prefer
70
68
69

I don't like the nose in 69.
The 68 is very elegant, the 70 more brutal looking

I've always thought of the 70 as a Gen 2.5

My guess would be that guys that like 70s best, probably like Gen-3s more than a guy who likes 68 or 69 best, and a guy who believes Gen-3s are best probably prefers a 70 over a 68/69.

... and if you're not a fan of Gen-3s for whatever reason - you prefer a 68/69 to a 70.

AKcharger

Not sure where the thought of 70's being lesser came from? They perfected the 2nd Gen with the 70's grill and High back buckets....'70s are the Ultimate muscle car.

68/69's.... :puke: I'd rather own a 76/77 charger than one of those crates!
